Description The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Research Scientist (RS) to lead the experimental development of cognitive omni-band wireless systems for 6G and beyond. The successful candidate will be jointly supervised by Mahmoud Rasras and Murat Uysal and will work in close collaboration with other researchers at both the New York and Abu Dhabi campuses. Principal Responsibilities The RS will design, implement, and validate custom optical wireless communication (OWC) testbeds operating at visible light (VL) and infrared (IR) wavelengths. The RS will serve as a system architect for the omni-band wireless testbed, overseeing the development of RF testbeds for sub-6 GHz, cmWave, mmWave, and THz bands, and ensuring seamless integration with OWC testbeds to enable omni-band experimentatio The RS is expected to disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences. The RS is expected to contribute to intellectual property development through patent filings and participate in international standardization efforts relevant to wireless technologies in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators. The RS will represent NYUAD Wireless at major academic, industry, and policy-oriented events and contribute to strengthening its visibility and engagement with global research and innovation ecosystems. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements including: Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral or industrial experimental research experience in optical and/or wireless communication systems, RF/optical system prototyping, and SDR testbed development. Ability to use various electronic and optical measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, arbitrary waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, optical powermeter, optical spectrum analyzer, beamshape analyzer, spatial light modulators etc Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end RF/optical transceiver design Experience in system modeling (Simulink, ADS, CST) Strong background in DSP for physical layer design Hands-on experience with commercial SDR platforms (e.g., NI USRP) Proven track record of publications in relevant IEEE journals and conference Work experience within multi-disciplinary teams across RF, optics, and systems. Description NYUAD Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research scientist to work on the development of membrane desalination to treat water from the Arabian Gulf feed sources and on the design and scale-up of low energy membranes for water purification, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering. The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functional membrane materials, including nanostructured polymer membranes tailored to microfiltration, ultrafiltration, membrane distillation, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. The candidate will employ advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, TEM, DSC, TGA, BET, etc.) to establish fabrication-structure-property-performance relationships in novel materials for sustainable desalination and water treatment. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and engineers, graduate students and undergraduate students. The successful applicant will manage projects and work closely with postdoctoral researchers, build deep technical knowledge and develop transferable solutions. He/she will participate in developing novel concepts and writing proposals. He/she will work towards solving complex problems with efficiency and creativity. He/she will be involved in writing reports, authoring publications, drafting patents and presenting results at conferences. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of materials science and engineering, membrane fabrication techniques, membrane characterization tools and separation processes. He/she will be detail-oriented, well-organized and will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Applicants must hold a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, and have a minimum of five years’ experience as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on a Pharmaceutical Innovation Programme Singapore research project where you will be part of a collaborative team exploring innovative ways of understanding extrusion processing for pharmaceutical drug materials and products using rheological measurements. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will characterize mixtures of pharmaceutical excipients and drug materials to develop methodologies for screening hot-melt extrusion formulations and selecting optimal operating conditions using rheology, with the objective of producing amorphous-solid-dispersions. You will validate the developed processing space and operating conditions for extruded pharmaceutical formulations using a lab-scale extruder. In collaboration with researchers at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), you will characterize the physical properties and performance of intermediate pharmaceutical drug products. The created methods will be transferred to the industrial partner to enhance their product development process using rheological characterization. More specific responsibilities include: Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake characterization of pharmaceutical active ingredients, polymeric excipients, and plasticizers for producing amorphous-solid-dispersions. Perform lab-scale hot-melt extrusion of pharmaceutical materials to validate predicted processing conditions and product outcomes. Collaborate with broader pharmaceutical research team at SMART. Design, execute, and interpret experiments independently. Author papers in high-quality journals in areas that are related to the research. Prepare and deliver reports and presentations for industrial partners Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaise with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team. Job Requirements Have deep hands-on experience with at least one of the areas of polymer rheology, extrusion processing, pharmaceutical engineering with small molecules. Relevant competence in the areas of wet lab work, analytical instrumentation, material science and formulation Have an advanced degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, or a related field.
