IMT Nord Europe is an engineering postgraduate university. The Nord Europe campuses are located in the heart of Hauts-de-France, on three sites in Villeneuve d’Ascq and Douai. Faculties at the university include environment, energies, plastics processing, digital technology, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, industrial performance, industrial engineering, and civil engineering. In their third year, Engineering students have the opportunity to study in another school in the IMT group for six months in a course not offered on their campus. At IMT Nord Europe it is compulsory for all engineering students to take part in half a day of sport a week. There’s over 27 different sports to choose from, including athletics, rowing, golf, bodybuilding, horse riding, dancing and zumba. The sports teams often take part in regional, national and international meetings such as the EDHEC Sailing Cup. Every year, the IMT produces around 100 start ups, supported by the school's business incubators. The APUI Incubator is an integral part of Nord Europe, aimed at anyone who wants to create a company prioritising technological innovation in energy, environmental technologies and sustainable development. Students who join the incubator have access to personalised support, a wide range of resources, training and advice and sources of project funding.

About the advertised position: As a University Assistant Praedoc, you will contribute to Valentina Ausserladscheider's research area. The research focuses on institutional and organizational change in the economy, markets, and society. The focus is on processes in which political, economic and social actors react to new challenges and change existing institutional orders, market structures and social models. Concrete focal points can be the transformation of economic governance and crises, the role of political and economic elites, discursive negotiation processes, and social, financial, and organizational responses to climate change. Particular attention is paid to the interplay of political developments, economic dynamics and social values. The employee should qualify for a doctorate through his/her research. Your future tasks: You will be actively involved in research, teaching and administration, which means: We expect you to conclude your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months. You are working on your dissertation and its completion. You will hold courses independently to the extent of the provisions of the collective agreement. You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching. About the position  An exciting opportunity has arisen at the newly configured Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre (LEC) at the University of Southampton for a Senior Statistical Epidemiologist with an interest in musculoskeletal health research. The successful applicant will help deliver the analytical strategy and advanced statistical methods for the Arthritis UK Stratification of Osteoarthritis to promote LiVing well and treatment Effectiveness (SOLVE) Research Consortium. The consortium brings together leading UK researchers to identify subtypes, mechanisms and risk factors in osteoarthritis to improve care. The post-holder will work with large epidemiological cohorts (including UK Biobank and the UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD)) to quantify risk relationships, elucidate mechanisms, and develop a clinical risk prediction tool for hip or knee replacement. The LEC at the University of Southampton, reconfigured from forerunning MRC infrastructure, hosts world leading research into the determinants and mechanisms of chronic musculoskeletal diseases of ageing, principally osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and sarcopenia. The successful applicant must have an MSc in statistics or a closely related discipline, as well as a PhD, and have experience working as a statistical epidemiologist. Previous experience of implementing machine learning methods and developing research funding applications is desirable. This post requires excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team. The post-holder will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their time physically present at the LEC, located on the Southampton General Hospital site. The post is Full-Time Fixed Term, with appointment for 1-year in first instance (full-time preferred but part-time may be considered), potentially extendable for up to a further 3 years.
