We invite applications for two positions of University Instructor in law. The appointments will be for a fixed term from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2031. The positions broadly encompass teaching in various legal fields in the Bachelor’s Programme in Law.  The appointees’ duties include the provision of undergraduate instruction and thesis supervision in the degree programme. The appointees will also contribute to curriculum and learning material design and development, as well as carry out jointly agreed administrative, guidance and supervision duties. In accordance with the University of Helsinki Regulations, an appointee to the position of university instructor must hold an applicable second-cycle degree and have teaching experience. Pedagogical training and the ability to produce learning material and deliver and develop teaching in a variety of ways will be particularly appreciated.  Pursuant to the Government Decree on Universities (770/2009), appointees to teaching and research positions at the University must be proficient in the language in which they provide instruction, in other words, Finnish or Swedish. In this case, the language of instruction of at least one of the positions is Finnish. The other position’s language of instruction can be Swedish, but we require at least satisfactory oral and written skills in both of the national languages of Finland (Finnish and Swedish) from both appointees. A person not educated in Finland in Finnish or Swedish may be exempted from the Swedish requirement. To successfully attend to the duties of the positions, appointees must also have good English skills. The assessment of applicant merits considers teaching experience, pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning material, other teaching merits and, if necessary, a demonstration of teaching skills. Experience of teaching higher education students and adults with higher education qualifications in Finland and abroad, as well as versatile language skills, will be considered an asset.  The salary will be based on level 5 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointees will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. At the beginning of employment, the monthly salary will be approximately €3,900–€4,100 in accordance with the salary scale valid from 1 June 2026. Description The research group of Prof. Ingyin Zaw at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking to add a Research Scientist in Extragalactic Astronomy to study the impact Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) have on their host galaxies. Applicants with a background analyzing and interpreting astrophysical data, in particular the statistical analysis of data obtained by large surveys, are encouraged to apply. Terms of employment include competitive salary and benefits. Research in the Prof. Zaw’s group focuses AGN activity and feedback which are critical components of current theories of galaxy evolution. Project include collaborations with researchers in Physics program and Center for Astrophysics and Space Science (CASS) at NYU Abu Dhabi, as well as researchers at the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics (CCPP) at NYU New York. Researchers are NYUAD have access to numerous high performance computing facilities, as well as access to sponsored time on several observing facilitates. Responsibilities of the position include using advanced statistical and Machine Learning techniques to study AGN properties, galaxy properties, and the relationships between them in large samples of galaxies, as well as participating in other research activities of the group. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, in Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics or related field, and at least 6 years of research experience (Excluding the years taken to complete their PhD). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience analyzing and interpreting astrophysical data – especially that obtained from larger surveys, and strong computational skills. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and interest in using advanced statistical / machine learning techniques to study the correlation between variables. The research will focus on the development and use of machine learning and advanced molecular dynamics techniques for molecular simulations and to study Nucleic acids structures and their interactions. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or related field, and is less than 5 after his receiving his their PhD. years , with extensive experience in the application of molecular dynamics simulations to molecular systems, ideally in both methods and applications. Experience in biomolecular simulations particularly nucleic acid simulations is desirable. An ideal candidate should have a solid background in physics and chemistry, particularly in the area of statistical mechanics with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and excellent record of research accomplishments. Experience with modern sampling techniques such as metadynamics, UFED, path sampling, milestoning methods; machine learning applications in chemistry and biophysics, good computer programming skills, and working knowledge of UNIX, phyton, and shell scripting is highly desired. Experience in molecular simulation softwares and analysis tools such as Gromacs, PLUMED and OpenMM will be very valuable.
