Ibn Khaldoun University

Université Ibn Khaldoun traces its history back to 1980 when it was established as a university centre. During the 1984-198 academic year, it was replaced by two national institutes of higher education: the National Institute of Agronomy and the National Institute of Civil Engineering. The university centre gained full university status in 2013. 
Located in Tiaret, a city in northwestern Algeria, the university enjoys a cool climate and serves as a major agricultural centre of the Sersou Plateau. It is situated southwest of the capital of Algiers in the western region of the Hautes Plaines. 
The university comprises nine faculties and institutes, each offering a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. Research is a vital component of the university's activities, with ongoing projects in over 30 subject areas.

Your personal sphere of influence

University of Vienna is offering a PhD position (University Assistant, Praedoc) at the Department of Statistics and Operations Research. The position is intended to support a young researcher in their doctoral studies. The position (30 hours/week) is based on a 3-year contract with the option of extending for a further year.

The successful applicant will be admitted to the department Ph.D. program and will work on the development and analysis of statistical methods for machine learning, particularly in the context of high-dimensional models and with a particular focus on methods such as jackknife and conformal inference. They will also gain teaching experience in the Department Bachelor's and Master's programs. (Teaching will be governed by the collective bargaining agreement).

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of mathematical statistics.
	We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
	You work on your dissertation and its completion.
	You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
	You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

The employment duration is 3 years. About Us

We have built an external relations directorate that has brought together an integrated Communications & Engagement and Student Recruitment & Marketing service. The purpose of the role will be to work on projects which strengthen relationships with graduates and encourage brand affinity.

About the Job

This role is responsible for managing and enhancing the University of East London’s alumni data and communications activity, particularly linked to the Graduate Outcome Survey. 

Within this role, the post-holder ensures the accuracy and compliance of the alumni CRM, supports statutory surveys, and delivers segmented, brand-aligned communications across digital channels that is tailored to a global network of alumni.

This role will also play a large part in our Alumni input to graduation ceremonies ensuring smooth transitions from students to graduate. 

With a focus on data-driven insights, GDPR compliance, and continuous improvement, the role underpins UEL’s alumni strategy by enabling meaningful connections, fostering lifelong engagement, and supporting wider institutional objectives including advocacy and give back.

Alongside this they contribute to flagship outputs such as the annual alumni magazine, collaborate across departments to strengthen alumni relationships, and provide operational support during key engagements such as graduation and the Alumni Big Weekend.

About You

The post-holder will have an eye for detail and be data driven, working on high level data and communications projects related to alumni. This role will work closely with the Head of Alumni and other team members as well as with our careers service with a focus on recent graduates. With experience of building communications via a CRM system and segmenting data to produced high quality targeted communications you will be seen as the first port of call in regard to the teams data and communications outputs.

The Department of Network and Data Science invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the assistant professor level in the broadly defined areas of network science and computational social science.

The candidates should have strong motivation to conduct interdisciplinary research with socially relevant impact. In particular, they should be interested in participating in teaching courses and developing projects in collaboration with other departments at CEU, and to engage with the broader research community in Vienna and Austria. We especially encourage applicants whose research would add to the intellectual diversity of our department.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Candidates should be able to:


	Teach data science methodology courses and elective courses applied in social contexts at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
	Produce high-quality academic research in the field of network science and computational social science.
	Supervise theses at both undergraduate and graduate levels and PhD students in the Network Science PhD program.


The standard teaching load at CEU is comparable to that of research universities, 12 US credits per academic year, in addition to thesis supervision.

Qualifications

We seek applications with a background in any of the fields of network science, quantitative fields of social sciences, social data science, computer science or natural sciences, with an excellent publication record, international experience and visibility, and research interest in network science and computational social science.

Candidates must hold a PhD in one of these or closely related fields and they should demonstrate:


	Excellent record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
	Proof of didactic knowledge to teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
	International research network.
	Strong recommendations attesting to their academic, teaching and professional capabilities


What CEU Offers

The School of Security Studies is part of the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy, one of the largest faculties of King’s College London. It includes the Department of War Studies, based on the Strand, and the Defence Studies Department (DSD), which is based at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom at Shrivenham, Oxfordshire.

About the role

Are you an experienced and creative communications professional with a keen interest in current affairs, geopolitical issues and global security challenges? Are you looking to work for one of the world’s top universities? If so, you could be the next Communications Manager for the School of Security Studies at King’s College London. 

The School is at the forefront of teaching and research on all aspects of security, defence, conflict and peacebuilding, which means media, policymakers and decision-makers regularly seek our expertise on issues of national and international security. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with our academics to further increase awareness of our important research and teaching as part of a strategic approach to communications.

We are looking someone who enjoys a busy environment and working across a broad range of channels. In this role you will be generating news stories, creating podcasts, managing high-profile events, developing new ways to enhance our social media presence, managing webpages, and engaging creatively and effectively with our staff and students. We are seeking someone with a proven ability to develop effective communications campaigns and content, plus develop good relationships with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will be happy to work independently, as well as manage 2 FTE School Communications Officers and work as part of the wider King’s communications team.

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


	Educated to degree level or equivalent.
	Demonstrable experience in using a variety of communications channels as part of an integrated communications strategy, and proven ability to provide advice on most appropriate channels depending on context and user need.
	Experience of developing creative and effective content including news stories, features, videos, podcasts and social media posts, including an accurate and methodical approach to work with a keen eye for detail.
	Experience of managing a schedule of high-profile events involving multiple stakeholders and a team of organisers.
	Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills, with evidence of building good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
	Excellent organisational, team management and time management skills, with an ability to coordinate multiple work-streams independently, prioritise tasks, motivate individuals and teams, and produce high quality accurate work within tight timescales in a busy work environment.
	Proven ability in using web analytics tools and how to use this data to improve communications.
	Able to undertake regular travel between sites and to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.


Desirable criteria


	Professional qualification in communications
	Understanding of the UK higher education system and/or experience of working within the Higher Education sector.
	Demonstrable prior interest and experience in the broad subject area of defence, security, war and international relations.
	Line management experience, including giving clear direction of priorities and praising achievements.
	Good level of numeracy skills including budget management experience.
