About us The Department of Informatics is looking to appoint a Reader in Computer Vision Education. This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to grow our department and realise our vision of a diverse, inclusive and innovative department of Informatics at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK. We seek applicants who will support us in our ambitions in inclusivity and diversity. As we continue to grow and strengthen our department, we are seeking to appoint a Reader in the area of computer vision education. We welcome applications from candidates who have an international profile in research in any of the following areas: image classification and object detection, semantic segmentation, video analysis and action recognition, scene understanding, medical image analysis, self-supervised and unsupervised learning for vision, vision-based robotics and autonomous systems, and generative models for image synthesis and enhancement. We would also be interested in applicants who are working in emerging areas in the field, including vision transformers, explainable AI for vision, and privacy-preserving computer vision. We consider computer science challenges from a broad perspective. Members of the department regularly publish in and sit on the program committees of top-tier and well-known venues in computer science and software engineering. Top-quality research establishes members of the Department as leaders in their fields. It is the research transformative aspect that provides the opportunity to serve society while supporting King’s as an outstanding institution in science and technology. The Department has strong links with industry, who engage with us in collaborative research projects. The successful applicant for this post will be involved in delivering teaching in a core area of computer science. Research collaboration across research groups, with departmental hubs and with other Departments in the Faculty and across the College is strongly encouraged. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered on an indefinite contract. About the role Make significant contributions to the teaching, examining and project supervision of students in the Department of Informatics. Establish and disseminate innovative teaching practices in the department. Deliver an excellent student experience through innovative teaching and assessment methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, in core computer science and a specialism in computer science or artificial intelligence. Enthusiastically contribute to academic management and support the administration and development of the department to further its education, research activities, and ambitions. Undertake a self-directed programme of scholarship in cybersecurity education at a level commensurate with current international standard. Act as personal tutor to students as agreed with the Head of Department, assist with difficulties, e.g. learning support/problems and be responsible for the pastoral care of students. Contribute fully and conscientiously to administrative tasks in the department. Actively promote and participate in equality, diversity and collegiality. About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria 1PhD in computer science, quantum computing or related field. Outstanding teaching and examining experience of computer science topics at MSc and/or Undergraduate level (including experience designing a module, developing teaching material and designing assessments, as well as contribute to the pastoral care of students). The Global Languages and Cultures Hub at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University was established in 2025 and is home to three dynamic centres: the Academic Literacies Centre (ALC), the English Language Centre (ELC), and the Modern Languages Centre (MLC).  The Modern Languages Centre (MLC) delivers high-quality language instruction and cultural education in Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish.   The Chinese Language Division offers diverse courses taught by 19 dedicated language lecturers. Students develop strong Chinese language skills and gain a deeper understanding of Suzhou’s and China’s unique cultures through tailored teaching materials and methodologies. Extracurricular cultural activities and field trips provide immersive, real-world opportunities to develop students’ communication skills and enhance their learning experience. Responsibilities and Duties Applications are invited for Chinese language teaching positions in the Global Cultures and Languages Hub at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) before 5th January, 2026. Candidates are sought as soon thereafter as possible. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. There will be opportunities for Chinese language lecturer to be involved in a range of different types of delivery, such as: Credit-bearing Chinese language modules from beginners to CEFR B2+ level, and Chinese language modules for Specific Purposes, i.e. Business Chinese, Credit-bearing Chinese content modules for degree students majoring in China Studies and Teaching Chinese as an International Language, i.e. Modern Chinese, Classical Chinese, Teaching Chinese as an International Language, Non-credit bearing Chinese courses, i.e. Practical Chinese Courses and Summer School, Engaging with Continuing Support Chinese language and cultural activities, HSK invigilation and item design. Qualifications/Experiences Successful applicants should be educated to Master’s degree level in a relevant area (e.g. Teaching Chinese as an International Language), and should have at least two years of post-master’s relevant teaching experience, preferably at university level. Additionally, applicants should have a good standard of written and spoken English, as this is the working language of the university. Familiarity with more than one language proficiency standard such as CEFR/HSK/ACTFL is a plus. Description The Marine Microbiomics Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to appoint a Research Technician with a background in chemistry or materials science to work on a collaborative project funded by Emirates Biotech, which is currently constructing the largest poly(lactic acid) (PLA) production facility in the world in Abu Dhabi. This unique partnership aims to assess the abiotic and biotic degradation of PLA under UAE environmental conditions, with direct relevance to sustainable plastics production and circular bioeconomy strategies in the region. The successful candidate will be responsible for characterizing PLA and other related materials under laboratory and field incubation experiments, applying a range of analytical and imaging techniques to study degradation pathways and kinetics. The technician will play a central role in Phase 1 of the project (abiotic lab simulations) and contribute to subsequent phases (field incubations and microbial enrichment studies). We are looking for applicants with: A Master’s degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related field. Strong hands-on experience with a range of analytical instrumentation, such as Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and related techniques. Demonstrated ability to prepare, process, and analyze polymer samples. Familiarity with experimental design, data analysis, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation. About Us Our guiding mission is to identify and investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms that cause and control inflammation and to relate these findings to human health and disease. We are interdisciplinary in nature; by bringing together different disciplines, we will accelerate our understanding of the common as well as the unique mechanisms that contribute to inflammation-related pathologies. To achieve this, we conduct discovery-led, applied and clinical research (including clinical trials) related to inflammatory joint, lung, gut, liver, kidney and skin disease. We extend these investigations to cancer, pain, neurodegeneration and certain psychiatric and mental health disorders where inflammation is increasingly recognised as an important contributor. We are highly committed to educating, training and inspiring the next generation of scientists and clinicians in these areas of research.  About the role The successful candidate will join a team in Dr. Yin Wu’s lab investigating the role of gamma delta T cells in cancer. The post is part of a Wellcome Trust Career Development Award to Dr. Wu investigating the cancer recognition code of gamma delta T cells. The post holder will be required to provide technical support to the experimental work being undertaken in multiple projects within the lab. This may include carrying out experiments, co-ordinating the project, timelines and meetings, and generally ensuring the smooth running of the lab. In addition, the postholder may also be responsible for training PhD and project students in the lab. There is an emphasis on translating findings in collaboration with the wider team which derives funding from multiple sources including Breast Cancer Now and Cancer Research UK. The ideal candidate should have a background in experimental biomedical sciences and good knowledge of immunology, multi-colour flow cytometry, and cell culture. The post holder will receive relevant supervision and training in specialised techniques and will meet with their line manager on a regular basis to review results and plan experiments. Equally, once established, the post-holder should be able to work independently without the requirement for day-to-day supervision and is encouraged to contribute to the design of experiments.
