Description The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. The successful applicant will join several fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to improve the diagnosis and therapy of metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. These projects entail computational modelling, device design and manufacturing, optimization of chemical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics, and preclinical experiments. The candidate will be involved in supporting research efforts, primarily data collection and analysis, as well as project management, training new lab members, purchasing equipment and consumables, and manuscript preparation. This position offers an opportunity to participate in several research projects, depending on experience and willingness to learn. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students. Applicants must have a BS (MS preferred) in an engineering or biomedical-related discipline, with experience in a laboratory setting, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team; with strong organization, communication, problemsolving and time management skills. Applicants should ideally be willing to work with rodent models including basic handling and surgical techniques. High proficiency in English is required. Description The New York University Abu Dhabi Computational Approaches to Modeling Language (CAMeL) Lab seeks to hire a new Research Engineer / Technician to work in any of the lab research areas, to be involved in the development of open-source tools and resources, and to work on publications related to their work. CAMeL's mission is research and education in artificial intelligence, specifically focusing on natural language processing, computational linguistics, and data science. The main lab research areas are Arabic natural language processing (orthography normalization, grammatical error correction, morphology tagging, syntax parsing, readability assessment), machine translation, and text analytics. Since its establishment in 2014, the CAMeL Lab has produced over 200 publications and 20 language resources and tools. The lab website is http://www.camel-lab.com/. Responsibilities Strategy & Leadership Define and execute the career services and industry engagement strategy aligned with institutional goals at each IBC. Lead the career services function across all IBCs, ensuring high-quality outcomes in internships, placements, entrepreneurship, and further studies. Establish KPIs around internship and placement rates, compensation benchmarks and YoY growth, India vs. international internships and placements, employer satisfaction, and alternate career paths such as entrepreneurship/startups and further studies.
