COLLEGE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION Established in 2000, the College of International Education (CIE) is a self-funded unit of the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), offering full-time Associate Degree (AD), Higher Diploma (HD) and Undergraduate (UG) Honours Degree Programmes at the Shek Mun (Shatin) campus. It is a major education providing unit of the School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the Faculties/Schools of HKBU. CIE currently enrolls over 3,500 students and is committed to the University’s mission of providing quality whole-person higher education with a Christian heritage. English is used as the medium of instruction at the College. Applications are now invited for the following position: Lecturer I / Lecturer II in English (24250306) Responsibilities: The appointee is required to perform teaching duties in related disciplines and perform administration duties; provide academic guidance to students; organise and coordinate experiential learning activities for students; and assist in the ongoing review and design of courses and programmes. Requirements: Applicants should have a higher degree, preferably a doctorate in Cultural Studies, Literature and/or Linguistics and at least three years relevant teaching experience at tertiary level. Applicants must show dedication and strong commitment to teaching and education within and beyond the classroom. They must also be a good team player with excellent communication skills. Ability to teach both English Language and English Literature will be an advantage. Applicants should have a strong link with industries and professional bodies and relevant professional qualifications. Candidates with less experience will be considered for the post of Lecturer II. Reference salary range: Lecturer I: HK$51,000 - HK$86,000 Lecturer II: HK$38,000 - HK$53,000 The appointee will work at the Shek Mun (Shatin) campus. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will take a leading role in curriculum development and accreditation of a higher diploma programme in film production. This position involves integrating the latest industry practices and advancements in AI filmmaking into the curriculum, as well as building and maintaining relationships with industry professionals and organisations. Candidates should possess relevant knowledge and/or experience in the following fields: AI in filmmaking Cinematography and Lighting Directing and Cinematic Storytelling Emerging Technologies in Film Production Production Design and Management Applicants should have a post-graduate degree in related disciplines and have substantial experience in film production in the AI era. Teaching or industry experience in film production, television production, or new media production is essential. Significant experience and connections in content creation for streaming platforms, or proficiency in new production techniques such as virtual production and AI filmmaking, will be advantageous. The appointee will be required to (i) develop and enhance the programme curriculum for accreditation; (ii) actively engage in industry networking to build and maintain relationships with professionals and organisations; (iii) perform teaching duties in related disciplines; (iv) provide academic guidance to students and supervise student projects; (v) coordinate with part-time teaching staff, professional bodies, and external stakeholders; and (vi) assist in administrative tasks such as promotion, admissions, internships and student activities. Candidates with less experience will be considered for the post of Lecturer II. Job Description FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY With offers of BSc (Hons) in Biochemical and Testing Sciences, MSc in Analytical Chemistry, MPhil (by research), and PhD degrees, the Department presently has around 140 undergraduate students, 70 taught postgraduate students and 100 research students and project staff. The Department places a strong emphasis on both quality education and scholarly research/services, and has reached a significant milestone where its educational programmes are not only innovative but also accessible, and its major areas of research strength are well recognised and supported. It is now inviting applications for the position of: Research Assistant Professor (25260280) The appointee will work closely with an established research group in the Department to conduct high-quality research and showcase original and profound research accomplishments that have the potential to elevate them to international scientific leadership in chemical science. Additionally, the appointee will help co-supervise MPhil and PhD students, establish a cutting-edge research programme in computational chemistry and machine learning, and engage in various scholarly activities, including securing research funding and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Applicants must possess a PhD degree and postdoctoral experience in organic chemistry, computational chemistry or a closely related field from a reputable university/institution.
