Teaching will be on statistics units for computer science, data science and business students initially. The Department of CS will form an integral part of UWA’s academic community. It will offer various degrees in Computing with subjects across Computer Science, Philosophy and Statistics including software engineering, computer systems, cybersecurity, databases and data engineering, ethics and artificial intelligence, statistics, data science, and the Internet of Things. Staff will also be undertaking impactful world class research.  Statistics is a core disciplinary area within the Department of Computer Science at UWA India, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across computing, data science and interdisciplinary programs. The discipline focuses on statistical theory, data analysis and quantitative modelling to support evidence-based decision making in scientific, technological and organisational contexts. Teaching integrates statistical foundations with practical application, developing students’ capability to analyse data, interpret results and communicate insights, while emphasising rigour, ethical data use and real-world relevance. Graduates are prepared for further study and careers across data driven industries, research, government and emerging analytical fields. About the opportunity  As an Assistant Professor or Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at UWA India, you will contribute to high quality teaching and learning, develop and disseminate impactful research, and participate in scholarly, service and governance activities that support UWA’s academic mission. At Assistant Professor level, you will deliver approved undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, contribute to curriculum enhancement, develop an emerging research profile with peer reviewed outputs, participate in research funding applications and supervise students where appropriate. At Senior Assistant Professor level, you will make substantial contributions to curriculum and programme design, lead or co lead scholarly and research initiatives, undertake independent and collaborative research that makes original disciplinary contributions, supervise research students, contribute actively to research funding applications and mentor junior staff. Evidence of success in obtaining, or contributing to, research funding. Demonstrated experience in, or commitment to, supervision or co-supervision of Honours and/or HDR students. Description The Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Research Engineer to support the design and implementation of interactive AI and data science platforms across the Center’s research clusters. The successful candidate will collaborate with researchers and faculty across domains such as Foundations of Data Science, Enabling Technologies, Health, Education and Personalized Learning, and Bias, Ethics & Privacy, contributing to the development of prototypes, interfaces, and software infrastructure that translate research outputs into usable tools. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain web-based and AI-powered platforms supporting CIDSAI research projects. Collaborate with faculty and postdocs on projects such as: Mathematical Collaboration Platform, Personalized Learning Systems and SmartClass AI Tutors, Health-focused conversational AI and multimodal interfaces, Bias detection and fairness-aware tools for ethical AI. Integrate machine learning models, visualization dashboards, and backend services. Contribute to data collection, testing, documentation, and dissemination of open-source resources. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Strong programming skills. Experience with machine learning frameworks and backend systems. Familiarity with cloud computing, API integration, data visualization, and database management. Ability to work in interdisciplinary research environments bridging theory, applications, and ethics. The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal.
