Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen University is a private institution spread across five campuses in Hiroshima and the historic naval port of Kure, famed for the construction of the world’s largest ever warship. It was part of the creation of the educational foundation of the same name. Started in 1964, it added a junior women’s college in 1986 and attained university status in 1995. It states the aim of "conducting deeply specialised academic teaching and research based upon the Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen founding spirit of Kyuri-Jissen (unity of theory and practice) and by producing members of society who have a highly developed sense of humanity and comprehensive decision-making abilities". The main campus in Hiroshima, shared with the junior college, is also the base for liberal arts, child development and music, with health and welfare on the Saka campus. Kure has a lifelong learning centre while social information science and global business is based at Gohara and the university’s largest single department, nursing, is on the Ana campus. More recent initiatives include the creation of a department of sports health and welfare in 2018. The nursing faculty, created in 1998, also takes in graduate students. In 2016 it had 583 undergraduates – around a third of the total university population which included a significant number from rural areas in Hiroshima’s hinterlands and 172 from overseas. Its aim is to "develop nursing caregives who can meet the ever-changing needs of people and contribute to local communities and international society". Options offered include community health nursing, adult health and gerontological science.

We pride ourselves on an international reputation for excellence in research and education, paired with a people-centred, friendly culture.  The role We are seeking a researcher to join The Politics of Sustainability in Heritage in the Middle East and North Africa project, contributing to innovative work at the intersection of archaeology, environmental history and contemporary heritage policy. In this role, you will collect and analyse archaeological and environmental data from the Middle East, developing critical insights into premodern landscape change and its relevance for present-day sustainability strategies. Alongside your research contribution, you will co-teach modules in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage. About you You have a PhD in Archaeology, or Cultural Heritage, or Near Eastern Studies, or closely equivalent. You have substantial experience in Landscape Archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean and/or the Middle East, including archaeological fieldwork. You bring a detailed understanding of the landscapes, environments, and heritage contexts relevant to this work. You work effectively in teams, collaborating with colleagues and external partners. Competence in GIS, database management, or geodatabase organisation is an advantage. You are flexible, adaptable, and resilient, able to respond to varying cultural expectations, work tempos, or unforeseen challenges. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Perform materials characterisation and microstructural analysis, including but not limited to: X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) X-ray Diffraction (XRD) Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) Isothermal calorimetry Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) Evaluation of strength development and hydration behaviour Durability performance and long-term behaviour. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. The employee is to communicate with any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Job Requirements Master’s degree in Materials Science (Cement and Concrete), Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Demonstrated knowledge and competence in cementitious materials and concrete characterisation, especially for Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC³) and Carbonated Steel Slag Cement. Te Puna Haumaru - Centre for Security and Crime Science invites applications for a permanent Lecturer in Psychological Criminology. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging scholar to contribute to research and teaching that improves community safety and reduces crime in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond. Psychological Criminology at Waikato is a multidisciplinary field focused on the psychology of criminal behaviour, including the development, maintenance, and reduction of involvement in criminal lifestyles and crime events. We are particularly interested in applicants whose expertise aligns with effective crime prevention interventions, restorative and alternative justice approaches, or the treatment and management of people within correctional and criminal justice systems. However, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who can contribute to the Centre's values and vision. You will develop and maintain an active research programme producing high-quality outputs in reputable journals and contributing meaningfully to policy and practice debates. You will enhance the reputation and visibility of Te Puna Haumaru and the University through publications, conference presentations, professional engagement, and collaborations with academic, community, iwi, and industry partners. The role includes research-informed teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels within crime science, forensic psychology, security and crime science, and psychology. You will supervise honours, masters, and, over time, doctoral students, and contribute to curriculum development and paper coordination. Salary will be in the range of $92,603 to $110,407 per year based on skills, knowledge, and experience brought to the position.
