Teaching will be predominantly online at undergraduate level. You will also actively contribute to student engagement and community relations. You will help provide academic leadership to ensure excellence in teaching and learning, and professional engagement. You will also contribute to academic administration, curriculum development, program coordination, and working collaboratively across the Faculty and with external partners. This position will liaise and collaborate with the TAS Discipline Lead who is based in Wagga Wagga NSW. Given this, and because intensive schools for some subjects are held in Wagga Wagga, living and working close to Wagga Wagga would be advantageous. About you A doctoral qualification relevant to the discipline is preferred; however equivalent accreditation and standing such as a Masters qualification plus significant professional experience are also highly valued. Description The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Research Scientist (RS) to lead the experimental development of cognitive omni-band wireless systems for 6G and beyond. The successful candidate will be jointly supervised by Mahmoud Rasras and Murat Uysal and will work in close collaboration with other researchers at both the New York and Abu Dhabi campuses. Principal Responsibilities The RS will design, implement, and validate custom optical wireless communication (OWC) testbeds operating at visible light (VL) and infrared (IR) wavelengths. The RS will serve as a system architect for the omni-band wireless testbed, overseeing the development of RF testbeds for sub-6 GHz, cmWave, mmWave, and THz bands, and ensuring seamless integration with OWC testbeds to enable omni-band experimentatio The RS is expected to disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences. The RS is expected to contribute to intellectual property development through patent filings and participate in international standardization efforts relevant to wireless technologies in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators. The RS will represent NYUAD Wireless at major academic, industry, and policy-oriented events and contribute to strengthening its visibility and engagement with global research and innovation ecosystems. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements including: Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral or industrial experimental research experience in optical and/or wireless communication systems, RF/optical system prototyping, and SDR testbed development. Ability to use various electronic and optical measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, arbitrary waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, optical powermeter, optical spectrum analyzer, beamshape analyzer, spatial light modulators etc Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end RF/optical transceiver design Experience in system modeling (Simulink, ADS, CST) Strong background in DSP for physical layer design Hands-on experience with commercial SDR platforms (e.g., NI USRP) Proven track record of publications in relevant IEEE journals and conference Work experience within multi-disciplinary teams across RF, optics, and systems. Description The Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to work on the development of responsive membranes with in situ switchable properties, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering and professor Raed Hashaikeh, Professor of Mechanical Engineering. The successful applicant will lead an innovative project focused on the development of surface-patterned membranes with tailored surface features designed to enhance the performance of microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF), membrane distillation (MD), and nanofiltration (NF) processes. The role involves advanced membrane fabrication techniques and a range of membrane characterization methods, such as SEM, EDS, TGA, contact angle measurement, CFP, BET, FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy, among others. Lab-scale testing will be performed to establish critical relationships between fabrication methods, structure, properties, and membrane performance, with the goal of improving desalination and water treatment applications. The successful applicant will oversee projects, develop extensive technical expertise, and implement innovative solutions. He/she will contribute to the development of novel concepts and proposal writing, while efficiently addressing complex challenges. Responsibilities will include writing reports, authoring publications, drafting patents, and presenting results at conferences. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated knowledge of membrane fabrication, surface patterning, membrane characterization, and separation processes. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are essential. The candidate should be capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team. Applicants must have a PhD in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, or related field. Excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project (in particular membrane fabrication and surface patterning as well as membrane characterization) are required. Candidates with a demonstrated history of peer-reviewed publications in a related area, along with prior expertise in materials science and analytical chemistry will be preferred. This position will begin in March 2026, as a two-year contract, renewable depending on performance.
