The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralised pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers bring specialised and deep technical expertise developed through extensive industry experience. They provide a critical industry perspective to student learning and applied research, complementing the academic expertise of faculty by translating industry practices and real-world applications into the curriculum. The Professional Officer (Industrial Biotechnology) will work closely with faculty, students, as well as internal and external stakeholders to strengthen operational and translational capabilities. The role supports: The Bioprocess Innovation Platform (BIP) and related research activities, including feedstock processing, fermentation, downstream processing, and prototype sample preparation at laboratory and pilot scales; Industry-facing project execution and translational delivery in industrial biotechnology; Applied learning and Continuing Education and Training (CET) activities. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with faculty and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth planning and execution of BIP-related activities and projects. Manage and support operations of the pilot-scale microbial bioprocess facilities (Bioprocess Innovation Platform, BIP), including: Project- and operation-related procurement; Consumables planning and resource allocation; tilities management (scheduling, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair coordination); Analytical and process data capture, analysis and documentation; Project documentation, reporting and follow-up actions; Waste management and disposal coordination; Laboratory safety and compliance. Our research staff have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on industry innovation research where you will support all aspects of the project to investigate neuroplasticity and recovery of movement quality after stroke using multimodal functional brain imaging and 3D human kinematics. This funded research brings together multidisciplinary expertise from Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), National University of Singapore (NUS), National University Hospital (NUH), University of Glasgow (UOG), Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in the areas of Neuroscience, Psychology, Movement Science and Rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Prepare data collection forms/interview questions/questionnaire and recruit and/or interview subjects. Description The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to join this new initiative, which focuses on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. The successful applicant will join a project to develop a glaucoma implant. This project entails computational modeling, implant design and manufacturing, optimization, and preclinical experiments using an animal model. The candidate will be working closely with a team of ophthalmologists. Applicants must have a BS in an engineering or biomedical-related discipline, with an experience in a laboratory setting, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team; with strong organization, communication, problem-solving and time management skills.
