Description The Haven Lab, in the Division of Engineering and the Center for Cyber Security, New York University Abu Dhabi, invites applications for a Post-doctoral Associate position in security and privacy. The lab's mission is to provide individuals with control over their privacy and protection from digital threats. We want to work towards a future where digital services are inherently designed with user privacy and safety at the forefront. Current research thrusts involve: Large-scale measurements on the web to understand and characterize harmful online phenomena. Development of AI-based countermeasures for security and privacy, especially in on-device settings. Investigation of attacks/defenses on AI-based systems. Key Responsibilities: Contribute to driving and developing the lab's research directions and methodologies. Lead and collaborate on high-impact research projects in applied security and privacy. Mentor Ph.D./Master's/Bachelor’s students, providing guidance on research projects. Participate in developing coursework and organizing academic and community outreach events. Engage with academic and industry partners to advance the lab's research goals. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, with a focus on security, privacy, or applied machine learning, and with less than 5 years post receipt of PhD. Demonstrated research experience in at least one of the lab’s research thrusts. Good programming and analytical skills, and willingness to work with new technologies/systems. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. Dean of Research The Dean of Research is a new senior leadership position within the Sharjah Education Academy. The purpose of the position is to provide leadership to shape and guide SEA’s research strategy. The Dean of Research will ensure that the Academy’s research is rigorous, socially relevant, and regionally transformative. The role is one of three Dean positions (Dean of Research, Dean of Education, Dean of Continuous Professional Learning) reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) and will work collaboratively with other senior administrators and academic leaders to develop and implement the Academy’s research strategy and plan, build research capability across the institution and establish a strong, distinctive doctoral program.
