We have a full time position available for a qualified veterinary surgeon who has experience in production animals to join our School as a Lecturer in Veterinary Clinical Practice (LVCP), delivering innovative veterinary education. This is a full time role, working 5 days per week. The successful candidate will be enrolled in a post graduate certificate in education. About the role LVCPs act as clinical and personal tutors to our final year students, supporting their learning and facilitating their transition to new graduates, whilst also supporting practice-based trained preceptors in the delivery of our distributed model of clinical education. The distributed model means that you will work to support our students on their rotations at practices across the UK. While students are on placement you will spend a significant amount of time travelling to partner practices to deliver in person support to our students along with time in Guildford to teach students and support examinations. About you This position would suit someone with experience in production animal practice but additional experience working with other species would be advantageous. We are looking for someone with an intuitive passion for teaching, but prior academic experience is not a prerequisite. We are happy to consider candidates considering a career change into academia. You will have a solid grounding in essential veterinary skills and a pragmatic attitude, able to think on your feet and adapt to the requirements of the role. Due to the nature of the role and the distribution of our partner network, this post will require a significant amount of travel and as such we will consider applicants based in all locations throughout the country. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop a demonstration scale low pressure membrane system in collaboration with Atera Water Pte Ltd. Key Responsibilities Applicants are invited for a Research Engineer in low pressure membrane system (LPMS). Reporting to the Project Principal Investigator (PI), you will assist in all administration matters including overseeing, planning, forecasting, budgeting as well as ensuring the smooth running of the daily operations for the project Assists in co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students or student helpers under the Project PI. Assist in designing, planning and setting up of a demonstration scale LPMS plant at a site allocated by PUB. The main responsibility of this position is to deliver on an industry innovation research project. The Research Fellow/Engineer will be a key member of the research team focused on developing a framework for soil conditioning in Singapore soils through a series of experimental investigations. Additionally, they will work on delivering a novel Screw Conveyor Extraction Test (SCET) equipment, crucial for accurately assessing the effectiveness of soil conditioning in tunneling processes. The proposed framework and equipment will be validated at an active tunneling site. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: Execute all experiments (e.g. foam stability test, slump test etc.) reliably. Liaise with the industry partner and agency to plan and execute the field trials. Develop the framework for effective soil conditioning in local soils. Design the SCET equipment and liaise with vendors in its manufacture and assembly. Validate the framework and SCET using findings from field tests. Mentor and provide technical guidance to student assistants involved in the research project. Carry out Risk Assessments, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaise with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of the equipment. To liaise with any internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of geotechnical experimental investigations and soil conditioning used in tunnelling.
