Guru Nanak Dev University was established in 1969 to mark the 500th birthday of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, with the aims to provide education and research across humanities, sciences, nature and technology, while also offering education of the life and teachings of Guru Nanak and the Punjabi language. The university made the decision to waive students' tuition fees for those studying in the department of Guru Nanak studies and the School of Punjabi Studies.

Guru Nanak Dev University was the first university to introduce online admissions in the region.

There are 14 faculties including: arts and social sciences, economics and business, engineering and technology, life sciences, languages, sciences, law, physical education, humanities and religious studies, sports medicine and physiotherapy, visual and performing arts, physical planning and architecture, education and agriculture and forestry.

Spread across 500 acres in Amritsar to the west of the Indian city of Punjab, the university combines modern architecture with traditional red brick buildings. With 35 academic departments and 148 affiliated colleges, the university aims to offer education to those across both urban and rural Punjab. Its regional campuses are located in Jalandhar and Gurdaspur.

The University of Southampton is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in gravitational-wave astronomy. The successful candidate will join Greg Ashton’s STFC-funded programme, Advancing Gravitational-Wave Astronomy Using Artificial Intelligence, to work on computational Bayesian inference methods and their astrophysical applications.  Southampton's School of Mathematical Sciences is home to a large research group in gravitational physics, comprising 9 staff members, over 15 postdoctoral researchers, and approximately 15 PhD students. Research in the group includes black-hole and neutron-star physics, gravitational-wave source modelling and data analysis, gravitational self-force modelling and numerical relativity. The group is involved in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the LISA Consortium, the Einstein Telescope collaboration and the Cosmic Explorer consortium.  Candidates should demonstrate a track record of research in gravitational-wave astronomy. The applicant will have, or be about to obtain, a relevant PhD degree in physics or mathematics.  This is a full-time post, available from the 5th of January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is funded for two years with the possibility of a 1-year extension. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Postdoctoral Research Associate in Manufacturing Optimisation for Hydrogen Storage

Located on the Darlington Campus for the School of Civil Engineering Opportunity to help scale breakthrough hydrogen storage technology through advanced automation in clean energy manufacturing Base Salary $113,400 - 151,328 (Academic Level A/B) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity Hydrogen (H2) is widely recognised as a clean energy vector essential for decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors. Currently the large-scale deployment of hydrogen remains constrained by the limitations of storage technologies, which rely on either high-pressure compression or cryogenic liquefaction-both of which are energy-intensive, costly, and pose significant safety risks. Rux Energy (Rux) is addressing this challenge by commercialising a breakthrough hydrogen storage solution based on patented nanoporous materials. Rux are at an exciting point in scaling their manufacturing processes, and in order to achieve a cost-competitive product this process must be optimised. Automation plays a significant role in improving efficiency, cutting costs, and streamlining the manufacturing process at scale. This project will build on our current capabilities to utilise automation to collect, process, and analyse data in the manufacturing process. The project is a partnership between Rux Energy and USYD and is a multi-disciplinary effort between scientists and engineers. We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work within the project to bring innovation to different aspects of the project. Your key responsibilities will be to: Phase 1: Manufacturing data integration The first phase of this project will involve identifying, sourcing, and installing various sensing equipment in Rux's in micropilot plant. The data from these sensors will be integrated into an existing platform composed of open-source, commercial and in-house developed software. Finally, QC points and a live process tracking system will be developed by extending the existing platform through adoption or development of new components. Phase 2: Using big data insights to optimise the manufacturing process The second phase of this project will focus on processing and utilising machine-learning techniques to analyse large volumes of data from sensors installed in Phase 1. The aim will be to merge the QC points and tracking system developed in Phase 1 with AI to develop predictive maintenance capabilities and extract insights about the manufacturing process, such as: Identify any key parameters in the mfg process that impact material performance Optimise power/energy usage throughout the process The outcome will be to optimise the manufacturing process on the micro-pilot scale to improve efficiency and product quality. About you PhD in data science or mechanical/chemical/computer engineering or related area digital twin and systems engineering, with the ability to model, simulate, and optimise complex manufacturing processes industrial automation engineering, including designing, integrating, and improving automated systems for scalable production data ingestion, analysis, and visualisation, turning raw manufacturing data into actionable insights for process optimisation software development, particularly using Python, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS to build tools, automate workflows, and support data-driven decision making excellent communication and report writing skills, enabling clear documentation, effective collaboration, and high quality technical reporting. The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki, invites applications for the position of UNIVERSITY TEACHER IN MOLECULAR AND INTEGRATIVE BIOSCIENCES (ESPECIALLY NEUROBIOLOGY) This fixed position from 1.8.2026 (or as agreed) – 31.5.2030 is based in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Biosciences, which is one of the three Departments in the Faculty and located on the Viikki Campus. Tasks Teaching and teaching-related tasks account for the majority (70-90%)of the annual working time. The primary focus will be on contributing to the curriculum of the Master’s Programme in Neuroscience — an international, multilingual programme that attracts both national and international students. In addition, the selected candidate will be involved in bachelor level teaching and teaching-related tasks. Teaching responsibilities will include fundamental topics in neurobiology from molecular and cellular to systems level, as well as quantitative analysis methods and examples of modern approaches in fundamental research. The university teacher selected for the position will be the responsible teacher on selected courses, teach on courses coordinated by other teachers and to assist professors and university lecturers with course preparation and management. Key duties also include student guidance, bachelor’s and master’s thesis supervision and evaluation as well as participation in collaboration with the faculty’s degree programmes. The candidate is encouraged to integrate into Department’s research activities. We expect the candidate to be able to work collaboratively, contributing to joint teaching initiatives and to foster a learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving. Selection criteria According to the University of Helsinki's administrative regulations, applicants must have a relevant higher education degree and teaching experience. When assessing applicants’ qualifications, emphasis will be placed on proficiency and teaching experience in molecular and integrative biosciences, in particular that of relevance for the curriculum of the Master’s Programme in Neuroscience, demonstrated pedagogical competence, supervision of bachelor and master’s theses, and ability to advance the use of interactive and student-centered education methods. Expertise in blended learning approaches that incorporate modern digital tools are regarded as an asset. The successful candidate should have good knowledge of cutting-edge approaches for investigating neurobiological systems at different levels of organization and to be committed to excellence in research-based undergraduate education. Additional merits include a doctoral degree and other research experience, particularly in the field of neurobiology.  Teaching skills The overall teaching skills of a university teacher must be at least at a good level. Applicants' teaching skills will be assessed in relation to the curriculum of the Master’s Programme in Neuroscience in the field of neurobiology. Applicants' teaching skills will be assessed using the faculty's assessment matrix and a teaching demonstration. Language skills The university requires that those holding teaching and research positions must be proficient in the language of instruction, which in this case is English. There is no requirement to be proficient in Finnish for foreign citizens, non-native Finnish citizens or citizens who have not been educated in Finnish or Swedish. However, the ability to understand written Finnish and/or Swedish is considered an advantage.
