As a doer, you will work closely with Executive Officer and the Head of Operations, to ensure the portfolio key priorities are effectively managed and you will get an opportunity to contribute to the University's Indigenous strategy formulation. The role will work in a collaborative manner to provide high level administrative support for the portfolio operations across a range of activities and contribute to the effective coordination, planning and control of projects. The position assists the Head of Operations with a wide range of general administration, financial, human resource, and project support matters. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT collaborates closely with industry partners in our research pursuits. Our research staff can gain practical research skills that are directly relevant to industry needs while working on projects at SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and develop a prototype of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) model with deep learning algorithm to detect, distinguish and identify complex sensing signals in  maritime space. Conduct literature review on deep learning algorithm for complex signals. Design and develop a prototype for maritime sensing Conduct trials and experiments to determine the success of the prototype,  Propose and develop trials and experiments acceptance test steps/procedures,  Process and analyse the data gathered from the trial and experiments. Prepare the final report on the trial and experiments conducted with details covering findings and analysis, as well as the recommended way ahead. Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of sensing, system modeling, simulation testing for both hardware and software, experimental prototyping and testing. Have a degree in engineering / applied physics, electrical, mechanical, marine, computer engineering or equivalent. Key Competencies Good knowledge in system modeling, programming, simulations, data analytics, experimental prototype. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Show strong initiative and take ownership of work.

An exciting opportunity to join the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), within the University of Southampton, as a Trial Assistant. The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) is a UK Cancer Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered unit and was set up in 2006 to design and conduct academically led clinical trials. The Unit employs trial managers, data managers, statisticians, regulatory staff and administrative support staff. We manage a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice. The Unit is core funded by Cancer Research UK, has support funding from the NHS National Institute for Health Research, and is based at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Role We have an exciting opportunity to work within the CTU. You will work with other colleagues in a team supporting our trial management team and will take responsibility for providing high quality administrative support across a range of activities. About You You will be a team player with a keen eye for detail and a flexible, can-do attitude. You will have excellent IT and inter-personal skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Previous work experience within an administrative or secretarial support role within a research environment is required. The post is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is a full-time post, but part time may be considered.
