FACULTY OPENINGS AT THE SINGAPORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY The Centre for Professional Communication (CPC) equips all SIT students with critical communication skills that are essential for academic and professional success. We currently have positions available from Lecturer to Associate Professor. Successful candidates will join the Centre as members of a team of accomplished experts who are passionate about incorporating critical thinking in the teaching of academic and professional communication skills that are transferable to the workplace and vital for professional success. Successful candidates will also be actively involved in embedding the teaching of specific academic writing, speaking and workplace communication skills in content modules across academic years and undergraduate programmes in different disciplines. CPC faculty are expected to develop and update curriculum through applied research in communication in the disciplines. They are also provided with paid leave to undertake consultancy work with industry and/or conduct courses for in-employment learners. We seek collegiate and team-spirited candidates who have corporate people management experience with thought leadership in professional communication and/or corporate training experience in professional communication. Candidates should possess at least a Master’s degree or an earned PhD or equivalent from a reputable university with specialisation related to academic and/or professional communication. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop new herbicide compounds focusing on synthesis and characterizations of HPPD inhibitor herbicides. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. i. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: ii. Design and synthesize novel HPPD inhibitor compounds iii. Conduct laboratory experiments for the synthesis of target compounds, including purification and characterization using techniques such as NMR, MS, FTIR, GC and HPLC Optimize synthetic routes and troubleshoot any challenges encountered during synthesis Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements A master’s degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, or a related field. Experience in organic synthesis techniques and analytical instrumentation. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. The Head of School will be a highly visible, externally engaged leader, providing strong academic, operational and people leadership to more than 60 FTE academic and professional staff educating over 690 EFTS students across public health, Māori health, Pacific health and social wellbeing, while delivering research with real‑world impact. Suited to an experienced academic health leader with a strong record of leading large, complex academic environments, the role requires clear, values‑led leadership and the ability to foster a high‑performing, inclusive and collaborative culture. As a member of the Dean’s Head of School Leadership Team, you will balance academic excellence with operational effectiveness; strengthen research capability and programme quality; support staff wellbeing; enhance the School’s external reputation; and contribute to faculty strategy and direction. Direct line management of academic staff and leadership of a school, department or equivalent unit is preferable. Successful track record securing grant funding and external research income.
