The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies Geneva, Switzerland invites applications for a tenured full-time position at the rank of Full Professor Of International Law starting on 1 September 2027 or on a mutually agreed-upon date. We are seeking to hire an outstanding colleague with demonstrated potential for research leadership in international law, especially in the areas of international human rights law and international humanitarian law. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in law or an equivalent academic background and demonstrate excellence in research through completed projects and publications at the highest level and a promising research agenda. The successful candidate will be affiliated to the Department of International Law. They will teach postgraduate courses and supervise master’s dissertations and PhD theses in the Department of International Law. They will also be called upon to teach classes and supervise master’s dissertations in the interdisciplinary programme and may be asked to contribute to executive education programmes. Importantly, they are expected to contribute to the work of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, a joint centre with the University of Geneva, in terms of both governance and teaching. In light of the interdisciplinary character of the Graduate Institute, the selected candidate should be interested in interdisciplinary dialogue, teaching and research. The teaching language is either English or French. Prior knowledge of French is not required, but the successful candidate is expected to acquire at least a passive knowledge of it within two years of being hired. The Graduate Institute’s Department of International Law, with up to 50 specialised courses and close to 30 full-time and visiting faculty each year, has one of the largest and most diverse concentrations of international law scholars worldwide. Description NYUAD Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research scientist to work on the development of membrane desalination to treat water from the Arabian Gulf feed sources and on the design and scale-up of low energy membranes for water purification, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering. The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functional membrane materials, including nanostructured polymer membranes tailored to microfiltration, ultrafiltration, membrane distillation, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. The candidate will employ advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, TEM, DSC, TGA, BET, etc.) to establish fabrication-structure-property-performance relationships in novel materials for sustainable desalination and water treatment. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and engineers, graduate students and undergraduate students. The successful applicant will manage projects and work closely with postdoctoral researchers, build deep technical knowledge and develop transferable solutions. He/she will participate in developing novel concepts and writing proposals. He/she will work towards solving complex problems with efficiency and creativity. He/she will be involved in writing reports, authoring publications, drafting patents and presenting results at conferences. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of materials science and engineering, membrane fabrication techniques, membrane characterization tools and separation processes. He/she will be detail-oriented, well-organized and will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Applicants must hold a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, and have at least six years of experience in the field, along with extensive research and publication in well-known journals and conference papers or similar research accomplishments. Excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project (in particular membrane fabrication and characterization) are required. Candidates with demonstrated history of peer reviewed publications in a related area, along with prior expertise in materials science and analytical chemistry will be preferred. This position is a two-year contract, renewable depending on performance. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. Description The Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a highly motivated researcher to work on topics in the theoretical foundations of data science and AI. The selected candidate will be part of the Foundations Cluster of CIDSAI and will collaborate closely with Professor Saurabh Ray, Professor Keith Ross, and Professor Pierre Youssef. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong mathematical background and expertise in one or more of the following areas: High-dimensional probability and concentration/functional inequalities Markov processes and stochastic analysis Theoretical analysis of neural networks and deep learning Foundations of reinforcement learning and bandit algorithms Mathematical and algorithmic perspectives on large language models Statistical learning theory and complexity analysis Automated theorem proving and formal methods Random matrix theory and its applications in modern AI systems This position can be filled at either the Postdoctoral Associate level, depending on qualifications.
