Job Description FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY With offers for BSc (Hons) in Biochemical and Testing Sciences, MSc in Analytical Chemistry, MPhil (by research), and PhD degrees, the Department has around 140 undergraduate students, 70 taught postgraduate students and 100 research students and project staff. The Department places great emphasis on the quality of education and the excellence of its scholarly research/services. It has reached a significant milestone, where its educational programmes are not only innovative but also accessible, and its major areas of research strength are well recognised and supported. It is inviting applications for the following position: Research Assistant Professor (25260457) Responsibilities: Initially, the appointee will work closely with Professor David Parker FRS, Chair Professor in Chemistry (https://chem.hkbu.edu.hk/davidparker) to conduct high-quality research, and showcase original research accomplishments that have the potential to allow them to develop an internationally leading profile in chemical science. The appointee will supervise MPhil and PhD students, engaging in various scholarly activities, including gaining experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Requirements: Applicants must possess a PhD degree with post-doctoral experience in organic or inorganic chemistry or a closely related field from a reputable university/institution. They should have research experience in Chemical Science (broadly defined to embrace synthetic chemistry in supramolecular science/chemical probes/physical organic chemistry/chirality/NMR/coordination chemistry),  preferably with an impressive publication record in peer-reviewed international journals. Prior experience in teaching and mentoring research students is desirable. Preference will be given to younger candidates who have worked in internationally recognised groups.  An initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
