Job Title: Postdoctoral positions Job description: The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences department (CBS) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is currently offering an opportunity for a full-time Postdoc in the field of applied microbiology and Bioprocess. We are currently looking for highly motivated candidates with a strong background in biochemistry, bioprocessing, and applied microbiology. Additionally, candidates should be knowledgeable in molecular biology and chemical analysis. Proficiency in biostatistics is very desirable. The postdoctoral fellow will play an integral role within our dynamic, multidisciplinary team dedicated to waste valorization and the production of high-value compounds. The selected candidate will work closely with our team of researchers, doctoral and master's students, as well as technicians, contributing to cutting-edge research in our department. About ACER CoE: The centre has been recently created to address enduring process challenges in Chemistry and Engineering disciplines and create an environment for interdisciplinary research. The research program of ACER is multidisciplinary, with faculty members from backgrounds in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering focusing on different research fields such as catalysis, separation, energy generation, conversion and storage, and organic optoelectronics intelligent and advanced polymers and materials. About the project: This project aims to lower energy consumption and increase the water recovery of seawater desalination using the concept of desalination dilution by integrating a hybrid Forward Osmosis (FO) — Reverse Osmosis (RO) system. The work of this project includes lab work, computer modelling, life cycle assessment, and techno-economic study. The project will contribute to protecting water resources, promoting circular economic and zero liquid discharge concepts, and reducing the environmental impact of brine and unwanted water. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary research team who are working on a project funded by OCP Group. The successful postdoctoral applicant will manage an exciting project on membrane processes technology and small-scale testing for seawater desalination. He/she should demonstrate experience in membrane processes, water quality analysis, and lab and pilot-scale testing of water treatment and desalination processes. Required qualifications: The successful postdoctoral applicant will manage an exciting project on hybrid FO-RO desalination system and small-scale testing for seawater desalination applications. The candidate should have a PhD in Engineering (including Environmental, Civil or Chemical Engineering), Material Science or any other relevant field. The candidate should have excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project (assessment of membrane processes and water quality analysis) are required. Experience in computational fluid dynamics modelling of water treatment and desalination processes is an advantage. Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary group. Demonstrated skills in scientific writing in the form of research journal articles, conference papers, or high-quality scientific reporting. Investigate thermodynamics-electrode/electrolyte interfacial structure-property relationships to gain deeper insights into material behavior. Develop innovative approaches to minimize cell polarization by precisely controlling electrolyte transport properties both in the bulk and across interfaces. Develop novel electrolyte chemistries aimed at directing interphase generation at both anode and cathode interfaces to improve battery performance. Implement strategies to enhance the manufacturing processes for electrode and electrolyte materials, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Mentor junior researchers associated with the program, ensuring their professional growth while collectively meeting program milestones on schedule.
