Golestan University of Medical Sciences was established in 1967. The university specialised in nursing until 1992 when the Gorgan School of Medicine was founded. 
The university is located in Gorgan, the capital of Golestan Province, Iran. 
Academically, the university is organised into six schools: medicine, nursing and midwifery, allied medical sciences, public health, advanced technologies in medicine, dentistry. Each school offers a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. There are also short-term training programmes and medical elective programmes available for students to study. 
The university has 13 health care centres located in 13 Golestan cities. 
In 2013 the university’s international campus was established to welcome students from other higher education institutions from around the world. The university has developed partnerships with international institutions to facilitate academic and scientific exchanges. 
The university is home to 22 research centres, which facilitate medical and scientific research projects throughout the year. The Ministry of Health and Medical Education fully approved the Golestan Research Centre for Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Infectious Diseases Research Centre.

Your workplace:

The Senior Lecturer position is responsible in particular for teaching in the field of clinical and healthpsychology in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at the Faculty of Psychology. You will be responsible for academic teaching for an average of 7 semester hours per week and design lectures, Seminars, and other teaching Formats (particularly practice-oriented courses) across all educational phases. In addition, the Senior Lecturer may be expectedto (co-)supervise Bachelor's and Master's theses. Taking on administrative tasks (especially in theadministration of teaching) is part of the job. The ongoing reception of the current state of science and theassumption of research activities are expected. Continuous didactic training, especially in the area of e-learning, is also expected.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:


	You hold courses independently in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. That means an average of 7 semester hours per week for part-time employment, which are to be taught predominantly in German.
	You will take on administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching.
	We expect from you the ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as the didactic further training.

Your personal sphere of influence:

The working group “Probabilistic and Interactive Machine Learning” within the research group “Data Mining and Machine Learning” at the Faculty of Computer Science, led by Prof. Tschiatschek, develops methods of machine learning and artificial intelligence, especially in the areas of reinforcement learning and deep probabilistic models.

To strengthen our team, we are seeking a university assistant to develop advanced machine learning methods for improving the simulation and optimization of distributed systems, for instance by specializing neural ODEs and their training routines.

This research will address challenges driven by the energy transition, which is transforming electrical power systems (EPS) into low-inertia, highly digitalized, power-electronics-driven architectures with increasingly interdependent component and system dynamics. Traditional simulation and optimization approaches, which separate EPS analysis and simulation by timescale into isolated zones with independent models and solvers, are no longer sufficient.

New methods are needed to tackle emerging challenges across timescales, from real-time operational control to long-term planning for optimization and expansion. This creates a demand for fast, flexible modeling frameworks, such as surrogate models to accelerate high-fidelity simulations, physics-informed neural networks, neural ODEs, and other hybrid physics–ML approaches.

The contract term for employment is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not issue a non-renewal notice within the first 12 months.

The professorship will focus on language acquisition in the Romance languages (L1, L2, foreign language acquisition, multilingualism) both in research and teaching. About us

Whilst genes provide the initial template for the nervous system, environmental experiences can create life-long changes in brain structure. We investigate how the brain forms during embryonic development and early life. Understanding brain development will not only inform us about individual variability - why are we different from each other - but also about the origin of pathological conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia.

Our centre is committed to educating the public through a range of forums and education programmes. We are led by Professor Oscar Marín, who is also Director of the MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders.

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Kostadinov lab to investigate how the cerebellum collaborates with the rest of the brain in the learning and execution of learned, goal-directed behaviours.

Successful applicants should have a PhD in Neuroscience or related subject with a specific preference for candidates with a background in rodent (ideally mouse) behavioural, neurophysiology, and systems-level analysis. Other relevant biomedical background, such as medical training and experience with fMRI analysis, are highly desirable.

The candidate will lead a research program aiming to map the organizational logic of connections between the cerebellum and brain regions involved in reward- and punishment-based learning, uncover shared activity patterns in these long-range circuits, and define causal contributions of the cerebellar activity patterns and wiring to computations in partner regions and to behaviour. Expertise in rodent behavioural training, population level electrophysiological recordings in behaving animals, optogenetics and chemogenetics, and analysis of neurophysiological data are crucial for the successful candidate.

As some of the founding members of Kostadinov laboratory, the successful candidate will have to opportunity to be intimately involved in the design, execution, and analysis of the research project. They will also receive regular career mentorship and advice from the lab’s supervisor. The applicant will also have the opportunity to collaborate with and mentor PhD students working in the lab, and they will present their findings at regularly at domestic and international scientific conferences. Ultimately, their findings will be published as scientific papers in high-quality research journals.

This is a full time post, and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31/12/2027.

Essential criteria


	PhD in neuroscience or related subjects (including quantitative sciences such as engineering, mathematics, or physics)*
	Experience with rodent behavioural training and analysis in appetitive or aversive conditioning tasks.
	Experience with rodent surgical techniques for neurophysiology and activity manipulation experience (e.g. cannula implantation).
	Experience with recording and analyzing neurophysiological signals in awake behaving rodents using e.g. extracellular electrodes, imaging, or patch-clamp electrophysiology.

The UK Dementia Research Institute (DRI) Centre is comprised of 7 groups and is embedded within the Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience at King’s College London (www.kcl.ac.uk/ioppn/depts/bcn/dri/lab-groups).

The DRI is a national consortium focused on cutting-edge dementia research funded by the Medical Research Council.

About the role

A new position is available for a post-doctoral Research Associate in synaptic biology in the Basic and Clinical Neuroscience research group led by Dr Emma Clayton.

You will lead a project characterising the proteome and transcriptome of iPSC-derived dopaminergic neurons in the context of Parkinson’s disease. You will be based at King’s College London under the supervision of Dr Emma Clayton (Emma Clayton - BCN). You will contribute to the production and analysis of large-scale ‘omics datasets with a primary focus on analysis of synaptosomal proteomics and transcriptomics, to address major research questions relevant to PD.

This opportunity would suit a bright, talented, highly motivated, and ambitious individual motivated to explore the transcriptome and proteome of iPSC-derived dopaminergic synapses. The post holder will use derive dopaminergic neurons from PD disease-relevant human iPSCs, isolate synaptosomes and conduct quantitative proteomics and transcriptomics to identify disease relevant alterations to synaptic signalling pathways. You will generate and use dataset that will include long read RNA-seq and protein mass-spec. These studies will help to guide the functional interpretation of alterations to the micro-environment of the synapse in Parkinson’s disease.

You will be highly motivated with demonstrable experience in synaptic biology and iPSC culture, as well as an interest in computational analyses. The Clayton group is multidisciplinary and you will work closely with a team interrogating the presynaptic terminal in neurodegenerative diseases such as frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, using lab and computational based approaches.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) you will be offered a fixed term contract for 18 months.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:


	PhD awarded in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Genetics or a related discipline.
	Practical experience within a research environment and publication in relevant and referred journals and ability to conduct a detailed review of recent literature.
