About the Team/Service/Location This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career Software Engineer to show strong leadership and progress your research goals. As Programme Lead for Software Engineering, this full-time role is expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as the supervision of honours, graduate and postgraduate students. The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor will be expected to maintain professional associations, establish and promote collaborations with industry, and contribute to outreach events. Salary will be in the range of $113,428 to $148,799 for a Senior Lecturer, or $150,661 to $166,176 for an Associate Professor, per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based at our Hillcrest Campus. We are especially interested in appointing an experienced academic who can provide leadership in integrating emerging AI tools and methodologies into our software engineering programme. The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD and have demonstrated teaching and research experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including successful supervision of Masters and Doctoral students, supported by a strong track record of securing competitive research funding. Additionally, experience leading a team of academic colleagues is strongly preferred, as well as a willingness to contribute to both our Hamilton and Tauranga programmes. Who are we? Au Reikura - The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Waikato comprises four discipline groups. The Software Engineering group has research strengths in areas such as human-centred computing, internet of things, and software correctness. Software Engineering is closely aligned with the Computer Science programme, where we have a strong presence in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. We offer a range of Software Engineering programmes, from the fully accredited Bachelor of Engineering to PhD level. Our programmes are accredited under the Washington Accord and the Seoul Accord. In November 2024, the University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) was appointed as the operator of GBAICTI. In December 2025, the Real-World Study and Application Centre (RWSAC) was established under GBAICTI to open up local health and medical databases and promote collaboration between Hong Kong and other GBA cities. We are now seeking a high-calibre professional to join the RWSAC (located at Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone) as Chief Data Scientist. We now invite applications for the captioned post. Duties and Responsibilities Report to Director (RWSAC) and lead the scientific and methodological core of the RWSAC. Provide scientific leadership in the design, execution, and analysis of real-world evidence (RWE) studies. Oversee the development and validation of the common data model and the data integration platform for use in healthcare research. Ensure analytical methodologies are robust, reproducible, and compliant with relevant regulatory guidelines. Lead the exploration and application of innovative analytical approaches. Manage a team of data scientists and business intelligence (BI) professionals, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous methodological improvement. Collaborate with the Data Scientist (AI) to integrate advanced AI/ML techniques into the RWE generation pipeline.  Requirements PhD degree in Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Informatics or related disciplines. Preferably minimum 5 years’ experience in epidemiology, data management, programming and statistics at supervisory level. Proficiency in SQL, Python/R, or similar tools; experience with big data platforms , machine learning, and data warehousing. Commitment to quality, integrity, confidentiality and compliance. Excellent leadership, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholders’ management skills. Detail-oriented, able to handle multiple concurrent tasks and self-motivated. A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including both Cantonese and Putonghua). Job Description The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the development of Earth Observation and spatial analytics approaches applied to the analysis and monitoring of urban environmental systems. The research will integrate geomatics, remote sensing, environmental geosciences, and artificial intelligence methods to investigate soil conditions, land-use dynamics, environmental processes, and urban ecosystem functioning. This work aligns with the strategy of the Center for Urban Systems (CUS), which aims to promote sustainable, resilient, and data-driven urban development in Morocco and across Africa. The research will support the understanding and management of environmental challenges in urban areas, including land degradation, soil sealing, environmental risks, and the impacts of climate change on urban landscapes.   Main Responsibilities •    Develop Earth Observation based methodologies for monitoring urban environments, including soil conditions, land-use change, and environmental dynamics. •    Design and implement spatial analytics and geospatial modeling approaches to analyze urban environmental processes. •    Apply machine learning and geospatial data analysis techniques to large Earth Observation datasets. •    Produce high-quality scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and present research results at international conferences. •    Contribute to interdisciplinary research projects within the CUS related to urban sustainability, environmental monitoring, and urban resilience. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. This role supports the Future Ship and System Design (FSSD) Programme, which aims to accelerate the decarbonisation and digitalisation of Singapore’s maritime sector. The project focuses on developing planning methods to support the electrification of harbour craft fleets, using real-world operational data to derive charging demand profiles and infrastructure recommendations. As part of this work, we are seeking a Research Fellow to lead the development of a user-friendly GUI tool that will enable stakeholders to interact with planning models and visualise simulation outputs. The RF will also support increasing coordination between different projects as the number of case studies and incoming datasets continues to grow. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop a GUI tool to make model inputs/outputs accessible to end-users Collaborate with project leads and researchers to ensure technical accuracy of the interface Support integration of simulation outputs across Projects 3-1 and 3-2 Manage and process large sets of operational data for case study analysis Contribute expertise in power grid optimisation to enhance planning models Participate in stakeholder engagements and respond to evolving technical needs Job Requirements: A strong background in power systems, energy modelling, or grid optimisation Proficiency in GUI development (e.g. using Python Dash, Tkinter, or web-based frameworks) Experience working with data-driven simulation and model validation in power grids (Ph.D level is mandatory) Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment Prior exposure to maritime or transport-related electrification studies is a plus
