Georgian American University (GAU) is a private accredited higher education institution, which was founded by Georgian and American partners in 2005 and currently has about 3,000 graduates.
GAU unites 5 faculties (schools). These are: Business school; School of Law, Social Sciences and Diplomacy; School of Informatics and Engineering; School of Humanities and Liberal Education; School of Medicine; We have 3 international programs: the Undergraduate Medical Doctor (MD) Program, Bachelor of Business Administration Program and PhD Program in International Relations.
The mission of GAU is to provide students with education based on advanced scientific-research and teaching-practical models, research and innovative activities. About the role: The Head of Communications and Engagement (maternity cover) will play a crucial, strategic role in championing the Entrepreneurship Institute’s (EI) vision and key message: that everyone can be entrepreneurial, and that entrepreneurial people can help make the world a better place by solving problems, creating a healthier, smarter, more equal and sustainable future. This role will increase awareness of, and participation in, entrepreneurial activities, through a programme of engagement about the Institute to diverse groups of students, staff and alumni, supporting them to understand what it means to be entrepreneurial and take their first steps in being a creative problem solver and disruptive thinker (i.e. early engagement). Engagement targets, each year, will include growth in digital communities, metrics showing engagement for the first time and deepening engagement as students participate and develop further. The role will also create communication plans for the Institute’s skills development and start-up support programmes (mid-to-high engagement). It is suited to a creative, curious and collaborative individual who enjoys the challenge of working across multiple projects with different stakeholders. The post-holder will manage a Communications and Engagement Officer, and work with them to develop and deliver a Communications and Engagement strategy that gives life to the Institute's vision and activities and compels audiences to join and further engage with our offerings. About you: To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Educated to degree level in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Experienced across IT, design and marketing software (e.g. MS Office, social media, website CMS, email marketing, as well as Adobe Creative Suite). Excellent communications skills – ability to creatively translate technical information into compelling narratives and adapt communication style dependent on audience. Strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders with competing interests, whilst positioning organisational impact. Experience providing creative direction and strategic leadership on campaigns and projects. Ability to develop a communications and/or engagement strategy that deliver against key targets and engages diverse communities. Budget and resource management experience, with the ability to develop and deliver across multiple projects at one time. Experience as an empowering manager and leader with a creative, curious and collaborative approach to tasks. Desirable criteria Understanding of digital marketing. Knowledge of/interest in entrepreneurship and relevant social and political influences. Strong strategic thinking and ability to ensure tactical implementation. You will design and assemble expression constructs, verify sequences, and optimize vector elements like promoters, UTRs, signal peptides, and tags. Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, and transfection methods is essential. You will run expression screens and analyse results using SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, and functional assays. Accuracy in documentation, inventory management, and data traceability is key. You will be a self-starter able to work independently, build effective relationships as part of a team and collaborate with others across academic–industry teams.
