About Gabriele d‘Annunzio University

The ‘G. d’Annunzio’ University of Chieti-Pescara (Ud’A) takes its name from the Italian poet, novelist, dramatist and military hero, Gabriele d’Annunzio, one of the leading writers of Italy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Ud’A began offering systematic undergraduate and graduate degrees in 1965 as a ‘Libera Università’ with the formation of four Faculties. By 1982 Ud’A became state-owned. Since then Ud’A has been growing in terms of number of courses offered (now 31 undergraduate, 27 graduate, 11 Masters and 12 PhD programs), and number of Departments (now 13 organized in 2 Schools).

Ud’A is experiencing a constant rate of expansion in terms of full-time enrollment, climbed from 532 in 2000 to 1379 in 2019 and, in terms of total students, raised from 18771 in 2000 to 25077 in 2019.
