Frontier University Garowe was originally founded in 2011 and began offering academic programmes the same year. Today, it is one of the leading private universities in Somalia, with a steadily growing student population.
The university is located in Mogadishu, the capital and most populous city of Somalia.
The university is comprised of five faculties: Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Faculty of Economics, Management, and Social Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Security Studies, Justice and Ethics. Each faculty is divided into different departments offering a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
In 2016, the university established its International Relations Office, which is responsible for developing partnerships with other higher education institutions across the globe. Through these partnerships, the university facilitates academic and research collaborations, as well as study abroad programmes for students.
There are 10 student clubs on offer, as well as more than 25 public events hosted throughout the academic year such as seminars and workshops.

Description The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi is looking to recruit a post-doctoral associate, starting Fall 2026 to work under the supervision of Prof. Pierre Youssef on subjects including (in no particular order): Random Matrix Theory Free Probability Functional and concentration inequalities Mixing times of Markov chains While excellent candidates with other research interest may be considered, a priority will be given to those able to relate to one or several of the above topics. The probability group at New York University Abu Dhabi is rapidly growing with a weekly seminar in place. The research interests of the other faculty as well as the organized activities can be found on the Abu Dhabi Stochastics Group page. The Post-doctoral fellow will be appointed for a duration of two years. Applications are open immediately and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The UK Illicit Project is an NIHR funded 14-month pilot RCT of The Illicit Project-UK a school-based universal drug prevention and harm reduction intervention for older adolescents. The research follows on from an earlier feasibility study funded under the government's Innovation Fund to Reduce Demand for Illicit Substances. It is a collaboration between Liverpool John Moores University, Stirling University, the Matilda Centre at the University of Sydney, the University of Liverpool, and Queens University, Belfast. This is a fixed term post for 6 months. Work includes contributing to a pilot RCT of an effective Australian intervention for delivery in the UK. You will work with project researchers to liaise with local education and substance use leads and school staff to help recruit schools into the trial, and to update intervention materials, training packages, and research materials. Due to funding criteria, the research starts in February 2026, hence we are looking for candidates who are able to commence as soon as possible after the recruitment process has completed.
