Birmingham City University invites applications for Lecturer in Cyber Security to support and advance its growth in the cyber security discipline.

The University focuses on practice-led, problem-based learning, providing access to cutting-edge facilities and real-world experience. Our lecturing staff are research active, and engaged externally, maintaining currency and strong links with industry ensuring students are given an insight into the growing area of cybersecurity to help them learn and succeed.

You will be expected to support teaching & learning for undergraduate/postgraduate modules, provide pastoral care to students, engage in cutting-edge research, and contribute to recruitment and outreach activities. You will develop and deliver engaging teaching and learning as a member of the cybersecurity team in a variety of settings from small group tutorials to large lectures. You will also set and mark assessments providing timely and constructive feedback to students.

Conscious of inclusive practices, you will be expected to provide pastoral support to students assisting with their journey at BCU and equipping them with skills to meet the demands of the cyber security industry.

Further, you will explore and innovate ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback. You will be expected to engage in cutting-edge research and enterprise activities through own-initiative and collaboration with peers in academia and industry, leading to external funding and publications in reputable venues.

You will possess core cybersecurity skillset with experience of teaching at university level. You will also have a track record of publishing research articles at reputable venues and potential to develop research proposals to seek external funding. You will be passionate about supporting students through their educational journey and keen to learn and adopt inclusive practices to engage with students from diverse abilities and backgrounds. 

With core cyber security skills and knowledge, candidates with expertise in Cyber Physical Systems, Digital Forensics, Machine Learning and AI, and Future Networks are particularly encouraged to apply. Membership of a professional bodies (such as the BCS, the IET, ISACA or ISC2), industry-recognised certifications, and professional registration (such as CITP or CEng) is also beneficial.

About the Role

Joining the iSolutions directorate at the University of Southampton offers an exciting opportunity. In this role, you will work within the Administration team to provide high-quality, flexible administrative services to both internal and external customers. What you’ll do


	Provide diverse and flexible administrative support to iSolutions and its Senior Leadership team as needed.
	Manage and organise events, including booking venues, liaising with appropriate key stakeholder groups, and managing hospitality and visitor arrangements.
	Maintain internal databases, directories, and data.
	Book travel arrangements, conferences, or training for iSolutions staff

	Monitoring and tracking of probation and appraisal processes
	Administer Staff Achievement Awards, Long Service Awards and other similar activities

Do you have a strong interest in Systems Biology and the relevance of the Gut Microbiome in Health and Disease? Then come join our team as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Manuela Schmidt, Division of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Vienna, Austria. Our translational research focuses on the molecular underpinnings of painful pathologies in vertebrates and on the dynamics of gut microbiota function in the context of pain.

Your personal sphere of play:

Your future workplace is situated at the Faculty of Life Sciences at the Universitätszentrum Althanstraße (UZA II) where research groups work in the pharmaceutical sciences, nutritional sciences and biology. Research in our workgroup “Systems Biology of Pain” is driven by our motivation to decipher the dynamics of protein networks and host-microbiome interactions underlying vertebrate pain. Methodologically, we combine molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, preclinical mouse models and latest (meta)proteomics techniques. This multidisciplinary approach has enabled us to investigate spatiotemporal proteome dynamics relevant for pain both in mice and humans. Our research lives from our fruitful collaborations with basic researchers, bioinformaticians and clinicians alike facilitating forward and reverse translation of our research results. Importantly, our research highly benefits from innovative methodological expertise and collaboration with the newly established University Vienna – Bruker Center of Excellence for Metaproteomics.

The position holder will work on pain-related dynamics of the proteome and the metaproteome in preclinical mouse models and in clinical projects. Candidates need expert knowledge in biochemistry and proteomics including hands-on expertise in quantitative mass spectrometry and respective data analysis. Candidates having expertise in metaproteomics, pain research or preclinical disease models will be given preference. Above all, we seek a skilled and dedicated person, who enjoys science and shares our passion for research!

Your future tasks:


	Plan and execute in vitro and in vivo experiments on the gut microbiome in mice.
	Investigate the dynamics of host-microbiome interactions in mice and humans.

	Manage and develop research projects and publish acquired results.
	Manage collaborative projects within our research group and with our collaboration partners.

About the Role

The Learning Ecosystem Team within the Learning and Teaching Stream is seeking an Associate Director, Learning Ecosystems. This role will play a role in developing the Digital Learning Ecosystem as part of the ANU Digital Master Plan, working across a team providing leadership and expertise to ensure we achieve the highest standards and current best practice in digital learning and assessment. 

As the Associate Director, Learning Ecosystems you play a key role in defining the scope key initiatives and ensuring the solutions developed are fit for purpose and directly contribute to delivering the benefits that directly contribute towards achieving the University’s strategic objectives in the Learning and Teaching environment.

Key Duties:  


	 Lead a team in the collection and analysis of educational data to inform the development of the learning and teaching ecosystem. 
	Facilitate the development of strategic plans; project scopes; objectives and deliverables; and partnership agreements, ensuring legal compliance including contract management and procurement, as appropriate.  
	Establish close working relationships across both ITS and ANU-wide teams, senior management, subject matter experts, clients and stakeholders to gain acceptance of ideas and consensus amongst a diverse group of stakeholders 


About You

	Postgraduate qualifications and demonstrated extensive experience in education and/or information technology, or a combination of qualifications and experience.  
	Demonstrated experience at a senior management level, with proven ability to provide strategic and operational leadership to digitally focused teams.

	Significant experience with interactive learning environments, learning management systems, and educational technology, as well as experience leading institution-wide technology procurement and implementation efforts.
