Fountain University is a private Islamic university located just outside Osogbo in Osun state. It was founded in 2007 by the Nasrul-lahi-i-Fathi Society (NASRAT). Students can study at the colleges of basic medical and health sciences, natural and applied science, management and social sciences, and a law school offering courses in common and Islamic law. Agreements have been struck with overseas institutions including Duke University, North Carolina and the Catholic University of Belgium. All students live on campus and must register 70 per cent attendance at lectures, which are electronically monitored.

Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering (Civil & Urban Engineering) seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to work on a broader field of geotechnical engineering. Required Qualifications: A successful applicant must have a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on one or more of the following: Centrifuge experimental testing (design, execution, and data interpretation). Numerical modeling and simulation to complement physical experiments. (Preferred) Proficiency in CAD and modeling tools such as SolidWorks for experimental design and apparatus development. And possess at least three years of relevant professional experience, not including the years spent obtaining the terminal degree. Additional background in areas such as artificial intelligence applications in geotechnics, geoenvironmental engineering, geohazards risk assessment, or energy geotechnics will be considered an asset. Research Project: The successful candidate will lead a research project focused on advancing the design, testing, and analysis of resilient and sustainable geotechnical systems using centrifuge modeling. The work will bridge advanced experimental testing with complementary numerical simulation to generate insights for infrastructure and energy applications. The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to: Design, implement, and analyze centrifuge experiments. Integrate findings with numerical models for validation and deeper interpretation. Develop innovative experimental apparatus (SolidWorks proficiency is a plus). Disseminate results through high-quality publications in reputable journals. Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of faculty, postdocs, and students. The Faculty of Law invites applications for a fixed term employment contract for a postdoctoral researcher from 01.08.2026 to 31.7.2028, funded by the Research Council of Finland. The position is a fixed-term contract for 2 years, with a possibility for a 1-year extension. The postdoctoral researcher will develop their own research in relation to international law and transformation in the global economy, associated with Dr. René Urueña’s professorship in international law. This work will include: developing single-authored peer-reviewed journal articles and co-authoring and/or editing academic work with the project PI and collaborators undertaking research in law, history, science and technology studies, and other relevant disciplines organizing and participating in international conference panels participating in the organization of workshops and seminars/conferences public outreach activities teaching/co-teaching and supervision of undergraduate students contributing to the research community within the Faculty of Law Requirements for the position and assessment of qualifications According to the Regulations of the University of Helsinki, an appointee to the position of postdoctoral researcher shall hold a relevant doctoral degree and have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work as well as the teaching skills necessary for the position. PhD diploma is to be acquired by the first day of employment. The working language is English. The period following the completion of doctoral degree must not exceed five years, excluding family leave and equivalent periods of absence. To fulfil the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to live in Helsinki, be physically present on a regular basis and participate actively in the research and teaching activities of the research project. Postdoctoral researchers have a teaching load of about 10%, corresponding roughly with one course of teaching. What we offer The salary for the position will be based on level 5 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The annual gross salary is approx. €46,000 - €48,000. There will be a six-month trial period for the position. Your personal sphere of play: The Isotope physics group operates the Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA), an internationally well-established facility for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). A particular strength of VERA is the capability to perform state-of-the-art measurements all across the nuclear chart. Extending the AMS method to isotopes previously impossible to measure with a 3MV-accelerator is an important research activity. The VERAcore facility provides easy access to the state-of-the-art technology available at VERA to address highly demanding interdisciplinary research questions. The goal is to utilise VERA for AMS in a collaborative manner i) within the University of Vienna, ii) for Austrian customers and iii) beyond in international partnerships. Preference will be given to candidates with a special focus on scientific support for sample selection and preparation, AMS analysis and the interpretation of radioisotope data. The position is initially limited to four years, with the option of a permanent contract subject to a positive evaluation of the University of Vienna Core Facility “VERAcore” in the fourth year.
