The department closely cooperates with the Department of Psychiatry, the Department of Neurosurgery, the Department of Clinical Psychology, and the Department of Rehabilitation. The Department of History of State and Law is a unit of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University that carries out educational and scientific research activities in the field of legal history and Roman law. In terms of teaching, it primarily delivers compulsory courses in Modern Czech and Czechoslovak Legal History, General Legal History and Roman Law, as well as compulsory elective courses in these fields. In the field of scientific research, the department focuses primarily on the issues of modern Czech legal history in its entirety, specifically the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, and the period of socialism and the functioning of law under totalitarian regimes, as well as the history of legal science.
