The role This role sits within the Surrey Academy for Blockchain and Metaverse Applications and supports the delivery of research, funding, and industry engagement activity across emerging technology areas. You will work closely with academic leads and external partners to support funding applications, research coordination, and project delivery. The role is hands-on and suits someone who is organised, curious, and comfortable working across multiple workstreams. Key aspects of the role include: Identifying and tracking relevant research and innovation funding opportunities Supporting preparation of grant applications, including impact, alignment, and compliance sections Coordinating research documentation such as whitepapers, technical notes, and supporting materials Supporting journal submission and academic publication processes Mapping industry ecosystems, partners, and stakeholders in AI, blockchain, immersive and creative technologies Coordinating activity between academics, industry collaborators, and internal teams Maintaining clear records, timelines, and project documentation This is a part-time role (0.3 FTE/10.8 hours per week) available on a fixed term basis until 31 August 2026. Applications are now invited for the following posts: Part-time Lecturer Centre for English and Additional Languages (Post Ref.: 25/305) The Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL) offers a range of core and elective courses in addition to co-curricular language activities in order to enhance English language proficiency and critical thinking of students, as well as to provide language support to help students succeed in their academic studies. The Centre is looking for part-time Academic English Language Lecturers to teach Academic English language courses at the undergraduate level. Applicants should have: (i) experience in teaching English at the university level (preferably to students in Hong Kong); (ii) at least a master's degree in English Language and Literature or a relevant field (PhD preferred); (iii) an English language teaching certificate (preferred); (iv) preferred expertise and interests include: delivering a foundational core course that strengthens students’ English proficiency and the academic skills needed for success in an English-medium university; delivering a course that develops written synthesis of academic sources, critical evaluation of arguments, seminar discussion and debating skills, as well as creative and reflective practices essential at the tertiary level. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop new herbicide compounds focusing on synthesis and characterizations of HPPD inhibitor herbicides. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. i. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: ii. Design and synthesize novel HPPD inhibitor compounds iii. Conduct laboratory experiments for the synthesis of target compounds, including purification and characterization using techniques such as NMR, MS, FTIR, GC and HPLC Optimize synthetic routes and troubleshoot any challenges encountered during synthesis Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements A master’s degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, or a related field. Experience in organic synthesis techniques and analytical instrumentation. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
