The University of Nicosia Medical School (UNIC Athens) invites applications from motivated clinical academics for a Teaching and Research Faculty position in Gastroenterology, based in Athens, Greece. We particularly welcome applicants whose work engages contemporary developments in precision medicine, digital health, and AI-informed biomedical research and medical education. Applications are invited at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, based on the candidate’s experience and academic record. Essential Qualifications Medical degree. Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Gastroenterology or a relevant field. Specialty certification in Gastroenterology (Board Certification or equivalent) and relevant clinical experience. Eligibility for full, unrestricted medical licensure in Greece, permitting independent practice of Gastroenterology. Proven record of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching relevant to the subject area. Research portfolio and publication record commensurate with the rank sought. Excellent command of Greek and English. Key Responsibilities Develop, deliver, and regularly update content relevant to their specialty across the curriculum of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme, from pre-clinical courses to clinical rotations, as well as in postgraduate programmes. The successful candidate will be expected to engage students through innovative teaching methods, fostering critical thinking, clinical reasoning, professional values and ethical practice. Provide clinical education leadership, overseeing curriculum design and delivery, student assessment and continuous quality improvement, and provide mentorship to junior members of the clinical education team. Provide mentorship and guidance to students, including advising on research projects, theses, and career development. Conduct high-impact research in Gastroenterology, securing external funding to establish and sustain these programmes. Disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences. Serve on Departmental and School committees and assist with strategic planning and development. Advance the School’s mission by leading community outreach initiatives, holding leadership roles in relevant professional societies, and building strategic partnerships with healthcare and regulatory organisations.
