BIFCA is a highly successful collaboration between Wuhan Textile University (WTU) and Birmingham City University, offering a unique cross-cultural experience and providing an excellent environment for innovative teaching.  Students completing their BIFCA programmes gain a dual award from BCU and WTU. With a series of innovative, technology-driven, and professionally oriented programmes, BIFCA represents the new era of quality-oriented, collaborative transnational education (TNE) that is responsive to the needs of all stakeholders. Students can choose to study their entire programme in China or complete part of it in China and finish at BCU. Our teaching commitment at BIFCA is expanding, and we are seeking a lecturer to contribute to this ongoing development. The position offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a popular part of China on a two-year fixed-term contract, with the option to renew after the two-year period is complete.  PLEASE NOTE: All teaching will be in English. You will have teaching experience in higher education or have presented regularly to technical audiences in an industry setting, including preparing teaching material and planning technical course activities. The Opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow in International Relations to work on the ARC project “Humane Exclusion: How States Justify Excluding Refugees.” The project examines the long history of humane-sounding arguments that Western states and other actors have used to justify controlling the mobility of Indigenous people, enslaved people, minorities, displaced people, and marginalized others. It pays particular attention to how these arguments have often relied on appeals to certain understandings of theology, race, gender, climate, and disease. Reporting to Professor Luke Glanville, the successful candidate will undertake original research on one or more of the project’s themes. The successful candidate will be expected to produce high-quality scholarly publications, contribute to project workshops, assist Professor Glanville in the management of the research project, and contribute to teaching in the Department of International Relations.
