Job Description SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS ACADEMY OF MUSIC Associate Professor of Practice in Music Performance and Music Pedagogy (Violin, Piano) (Multiple Positions) (25260435) The Academy of Music (https://mus.hkbu.edu.hk/web/) has rapidly emerged as one of the leading institutions in Hong Kong, providing a rigorous and comprehensive music curriculum. The Academy is seeking a distinguished music educator and accomplished performer for the position of Associate Professor of Practice in Music Performance and Pedagogy. Responsibilities: Teach music performance courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; Maintain an active profile in professional performance and/or scholarly activities; and Collaborate across disciplines within the Academy and with colleagues across the University to further develop the Academy’s strengths in interdisciplinary research, teaching and knowledge transfer. Requirements: A doctoral degree in music or equivalent professional experience; and Collegiate-level teaching experience. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years commencing as soon as possible. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review, mutual agreement, and availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Pathology / Histopathology or a relevant field. Specialty certification in Pathology / Histopathology (Board Certification or equivalent) and relevant clinical experience. Eligibility for full, unrestricted medical licensure in Greece, permitting independent practice of Pathology / Histopathology. Key Responsibilities Develop, deliver, and regularly update content relevant to their specialty across the curriculum of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme, from pre-clinical courses to clinical rotations, as well as in postgraduate programmes. The successful candidate will be expected to engage students through innovative teaching methods, fostering critical thinking, clinical reasoning, professional values and ethical practice. Provide clinical education leadership, overseeing curriculum design and delivery, student assessment and continuous quality improvement, and provide mentorship to junior members of the clinical education team. Provide mentorship and guidance to students, including advising on research projects, theses, and career development. Conduct high-impact research in Pathology / Histopathology, securing external funding to establish and sustain these programmes. The scope of the project covers a wide range of opportunities for the under-privileged, gifted students, parents' engagement, community music, industry-higher education collaboration, and curriculum development such as the use of EdTech, art-tech, interdisciplinary learning, cross-cultural studies, and performance and pedagogical research. A key component of the project includes a new 5-6 year music programme that includes an in-school/after-school instrumental ensemble-based music training for primary school students.
