Why Your Role Matters: UNSW Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy delivers a unique “grey ship”, navy focused, naval architecture degree program which is one of only two undergraduate naval architecture degree programs in Australasia. The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) offers a flexible, friendly working environment that is well-resourced and delivers research-informed education as part of its accredited, globally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, project management, space, explosive ordnance, and capability development. While expansion of naval architectural activity is expected in research, short courses and post-graduate programs, the immediate focus will be the Undergraduate Naval Architecture Program. Accountabilities: Ideally, this will be a “balanced” academic role where responsibilities include teaching, research and service. You will be embracing opportunities to make meaningful contributions, fuelling a passion for learning and innovation. An education focused appointment where the responsibilities shift to predominantly teaching is possible. Fractional appointments may also be considered. Who You Are (skills and experience):  Our ideal candidate will have: A PhD in naval architecture or a related discipline or substantial relevant professional and technical experience. A profound understanding of naval architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices, with a track record of academic and professional accomplishments in this field. Experience in course development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level will be highly regarded. Proven ability to conduct impactful research in the realm of naval architecture, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the discipline and a record of actively engaging in scholarly activities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling the candidate to interact effectively with students, colleagues, and industry partners. Experience in, or in support of, naval engineering from navy, academic, industry or government roles. Description The Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work on interdisciplinary research in quantum systems. The successful applicant will Performing interdisciplinary research in quantum systems within the projects of the center and in alignment with its goals, in collaboration and coordination with the PI and/or the Co-PIs, potentially leading to quality publications.
