The School of Psychology at LJMU seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Forensic Psychology for up to 18 months, to contribute to our BPS accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will hold a PhD in Psychology or an appropriate level of experience in a discipline of Psychology, with the ability to teach forensic psychology at undergraduate and postgraduate level and to supervise postgraduate students. 

We are a large, dynamic department with an excellent reputation for both teaching and research. Our portfolio includes BPS-accredited undergraduate programmes and a wide range of postgraduate taught courses, including Health Psychology. In REF 2021, the school was ranked 37th nationally for research power and was the fourth largest submission from a Post-92 institution. Our staff currently hold substantial research grants from major funders including: Wellcome, NIHR, ESRC, BA, NHS Trusts, and charities. Since REF2021, we have produced over 800 publications and received more than 6,000 citations, reflecting the value and reach of our scholarly output.

The School operates a hybrid working policy and postgraduate supervision is delivered both face to face and online.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with research/applied experience, dedicated to providing an outstanding student experience who can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to help facilitate our continued development and growth.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the School of Psychology for an interview which will also include a 10-minute presentation to a small group of undergraduate students and staff, and a tour of the department.

The Position

We now invite applications for appointment as Assistant Professor in strategic research areas of synthetic organic chemistry, including but not limited to:


	Asymmetric catalysis and synthesis;
	Total synthesis;
	Electro- and photocatalysis;
	Organo- and transition metal catalysis;
	Polymer chemistry


Duties and Responsibilities


	Conduct research with high impact and make significant contribution to related fields;
	Deliver excellent teaching in related courses;
	Publish research findings in reputable scientific journals and present research at conferences;
	Secure external funding through grant applications and actively participate in collaborative research projects;
	Teach and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in chemistry courses and research activities; and
	Contribute to academic and administrative duties of the Department.


Essential Requirements


	A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Material Science, or a relevant field;
	A strong publication record in top scientific journals;
	Experience in securing external research funding and engaging in collaborative research projects is preferred;
	Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
	Outstanding teaching skills in topics including but not limited to introductory organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, advanced organic chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, and spectroscopy of organic molecules;
	Commitment to delivering high-quality and mentoring to students; and
	Complementary expertise with the Department's existing strengths and focus on Materials, Chemical Biology, Spectroscopy, and Synthetic Chemistry.


What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years initially, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of the second three-year fixed-term contract.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave, professional leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. A start-up package commensurate with the needs and experience of the appointee will be provided.

The Residence Services Coordinator will play a vital role in delivering a world class service to residents, short-term guests, summer business clients, and external partners. Your responsibilities include maintaining exceptional hospitality standards, upholding the pristine condition of the reception and communal areas, and collaborating seamlessly with other residential functions to ensure a seamless and continuous service delivery. We're seeking a candidate who can work independently, take initiative, and foster effective teamwork to enhance the overall resident experience. The Residence Services Coordinator must be dedicated to providing a professional and efficient service within King’s College.

You will be expected to work 1 day at the weekend, the shift pattern Example:

Full Time: Tuesday to Saturday alternating weekly 8am-4pm and 1pm -9pm

Part Time: Sunday to Wednesday alternating weekly 8am-4pm and 1pm -9pm

We have two roles, a Full-time position (35hrs a week) and Part Time position (21hrs a week), both will be offered an indefinite contract. Please indicate which position you are applying for.

Essential criteria

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer in Forensic Psychology to join our growing team and contribute to the delivery of a range of programmes across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with research or applied experience who is dedicated to providing an exceptional student experience and can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching and assessment activities, ensuring students are engaged and challenged through lectures, tutorials, and seminars at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also supervise postgraduate students and play an active role in curriculum development, contributing to the planning, design, and enhancement of modules and programmes that reflect current trends and best practice in forensic psychology.

Alongside teaching, you will have the opportunity to establish an independent research portfolio aligned with the school’s priorities, engage in scholarly and professional activities, and participate in knowledge exchange initiatives. Your contribution will extend to supporting the academic life of the school through administrative responsibilities and collaborative projects.

To succeed in this role, you will hold a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience relevant to the discipline, and ideally a PhD or be close to completion. You will bring experience of teaching at undergraduate level or delivering professional training, with the ability to contribute effectively to curriculum development and take responsibility for the efficient delivery of modules and programmes. The Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science (HITS) seeks to appoint a motivated and experienced Learning Technologist to play a vital role in developing the pedagogical and digital capabilities of staff and students and drive the development of technology enhanced education

Working with a busy, positive and proactive team you will be responsible for providing expert advice, support, and troubleshooting in the use of educational technology and practices to staff and students whilst managing multiple long and medium-term projects. You will also be required to identify, pilot, develop and evaluate new technologies (such as mixed and immersive reality, artificial intelligence and game based and authentic learning platforms) whilst exploiting and keeping up to date with core educational technologies (such as VLEs, e-Portfolios and e-learning authoring packages).

You will have a degree in a relevant discipline and experience of working in a learning technology or educational development role. Strong communication, interpersonal and team working skills are essential alongside experience of developing and promoting high quality and accessible active learning interventions and resources.
