The Role and the Department The role will act as the deputy for, and assist, the IS Senior Manager (Integrations) to deliver effective integration solutions to the University, and sits within the wider Information Services (IS) collection of teams, which underpin the delivery of customer focused information systems and services. Specifically, the post holder will: Assist the IS Senior Manager (Integrations) in the line management and professional development of a high performing Integrations team, monitoring workload, team performance and proactively ensuring, delivery outcomes align with approved prioritisation schedules. Support academic and professional departments in understanding their data custodian responsibilities and help make strategic decisions to further the adoption of centralised data models. Assist in the design and implementation of software integration solutions across the university's enterprise applications, evaluating existing components or systems to determine integration requirements and ensuring final solutions meet organisational architecture principals. Develop test cases and new methods to accelerate the integration task, as well as documenting integration processes for different stakeholders. Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the university's integration environments. Development and implementation of automation scripts, for operational and analytical improvements. Lead the deployment of software builds and integration, developing and testing automation scripts using automation and troubleshooting in cases of failure. Work closely with Professional Support and Academic departments to support and identify requirements or improvements for integration. The Computing and Information Services (CIS) has an annual operational budget in excess of £27m, including multi-million pound programmes of change within year, and approximately 172 staff. The Senior Leadership Team report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the following portfolios: Strategy and Change; Technical Services; Information Services, and; Cyber Security. CIS work with departments across the university to provide academic, teaching and administrative services that underpin the day-to-day activities of the whole organisation. Details of the Digital Strategy and ongoing work can be found at CIS is a friendly, but demanding department, where much is expected and can be achieved by competent, self-motivated individuals who are demonstrable in their team work ability. The department works in a hybrid capacity, depending on the job role. Information Services (IS) is responsible for the provision of a wide range of end-user and customer facing technology services, ranging from: student record management; database administration, curriculum & learning, IWMS, internet and intranet provision; integration; AI; identity and access management, and; other immersive technology experiences. CIS is committed to, and has a track record of, developing talent and where appropriate, there will be an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop further by being sponsored to undertake an approved upskilling development pathway, within the integrations specialism. Senior Research Fellow in E-Textiles and Printed Electronics

We seek high calibre highly motivated post-doctoral researchers to join our electronic textiles research program. The positions are funded by the EU (European Union) project: SoftIE – Materials for Sustainable Soft Technologies of Interconnected E-textiles, tackling a fundamental challenge; the lack of a robust connection and interconnects. You will be based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) and be part of an EU project consortia developing new materials and processes to achieve sustainable interconnected e-textile systems. You will work in the Printed Electronics and Materials Laboratory and other facilities. Comprehensive training and support will be provided by experienced users, enabling you to develop the skills necessary for the role. Prior experience with the equipment is not essential. You will be invited to travel to project meetings and dissemination activities across the UK and EU. The role will also involve supporting junior research staff and contributing to the planning and delivery of group outreach activities. Reasonable adjustments will be made to support candidates for whom travel may present challenges. You will help lead a work package within the project and develop routes to commercialisation for the work as well as strategies for intellectual property protection and exploitation. The roles will involve research on the following topics. Novel printed copper ink formulations and other conductive materials. Novel sustainable adhesive materials. E-Textile device manufacturing, focusing on improving durability and reliability.  Design and assembly of E-Textile demonstrators.  To be successful with your application, you will need to demonstrate:  A PhD in an appropriate area related to one or more of the roles described above.
