FACULTY POSITION IN ACCOUNTING: The Department of Accounting and Information Systems at American University of Sharjah invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the department’s teaching, research activities, and service. While we welcome applications from academics with diverse accounting backgrounds, we are particularly interested in candidates with a focus on taxation. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: All candidates must have a PhD in accounting from an AACSB-accredited university, preferably in North America. Assistant professors must have evidence of publications and promising research potential. A successful candidate should be able to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

	PhD completed within the last five years (preferably within three) or nearing completion Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a PhD in Accounting, if possible. If not, a

The research group “Atmospheric Transport Processes,” led by Prof. Andreas Stohl, is part of the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics. The group develops the Lagrangian transport model FLEXPART and studies all aspects of transport in the atmosphere, ranging from greenhouse gases to pollutants, water vapour and heat, and we use inverse modelling techniques to determine sources of greenhouse gases, radionuclides, or air pollutants. Our future research strategy also includes studies of the higher atmosphere.

Active participation in research and teaching, which means you will:


	Perform research within the scope of the Atmospheric Transport Processes group; possible topics could be: contamination transport in the atmosphere; microplastics pollution; transport of water or heat in the atmosphere.
	Teach independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, including the co-supervision of BSc and MSc theses;
	Publish your scientific results in peer-reviewed journals;
	Strengthen the collaborative culture of our team and the Department.


This is part of your personality:


	Completed Ph.D. / Doctoral degree in the atmospheric sciences (e.g., meteorology, climatology), or a related field;
	Data analysis and interpretation experience that is guided by theoretical / physical understanding and not only by application of statistical methods or artificial intelligence;

	Very good command of the English language.

As a VE Teacher at RMIT, you will be mainly responsible for delivering course material, assessing students, and supervising students enrolled in selected courses in the schools.


	Effective interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments. This includes effective presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.
	Skills and experience in competency-based assessment and ensuring current and contemporary vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.
	Experience in relevant industry, and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
	Relevant Qualifications - Certificate 4 Training & Assessment (enrolled or finished) as a minimum and relevant trades qualifications & licenses.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:


	Undertaking course planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom, laboratory, and project-based teaching) in areas related to artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and mechatronics;
	Participating in programme development, quality assurance, and accreditation exercise;
	Performing scholarly activities, producing high-quality publications, and pursuing external research funding in related discipline(s);
	Leading and promoting research collaborations with academic and industrial partners;
	Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research project(s);
	Supporting student development activities, including mentoring, competitions, and experiential learning;
	Undertaking / participating in School and University-wide activities and administration; and
	Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.


Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:


	A doctoral degree in Artificial Intelligence, Automation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline;
	Relevant experience in the tertiary education sector;
	Competence in teaching / professional experience including programme development and course administration;
	Strong communication skills and the ability to use English as the medium of instruction;
	A distinguished record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals and leading conferences in robotics, intelligent systems, control, or automation;
	Substantial industrial or professional experience in robot perception, manipulation, control, autonomous systems, AI-enabled automation, or industrial robotics, or a related sector;
	A track record of applied research, technology transfer, consulting, or co-developed industry projects are preferred; and
	A record of securing competitive research funding will be an advantage.


Applicants who have less extensive experience and/or do not fully meet the requirements for appointment as Assistant Professor may be considered for appointment as Senior Lecturer.
