Applications are invited for a Fixed Term Teaching Fellow in Political Theory The ideal candidate will have the required expertise to supervise UG and PGT dissertations and teach modules primarily in political theory with the potential for some additions as appropriate. Teaching Fellowships offer the opportunity of valuable experience to those early in their academic careers and the University is keen to maximise the benefit to as many people as possible. The post of Teaching Fellow will involve a significant teaching load, which may extend into the summer period, and there may be related scholarship and the opportunity for administrative duties which relate to education and pedagogy. The post is for a fixed term only, and it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond this fixed term. Successful applicants will need to be in post by 1 st September 2026. The School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Phanerozoic Ocean Biogeochemistry and Earth System Evolution. The successful applicant will work on the development and application of the cGENIE Earth system model for the NERC Pushing the Frontiers project “Determining extinction correlates on geological timescales”, under the supervision of institutional lead Dr. Richard Stockey and in collaboration with team members at the University of Oxford (Project Lead Prof. Erin Saupe) and the University of Leeds (Project Co-Lead Prof. Ben Mills). The post holder will specifically work to generate a series of reconstructive models of 3D ocean biogeochemistry through the Phanerozoic (last ~540 million years). A key focus of this role is to explore uncertainty in three-dimensional ocean biogeochemistry over this time interval and its implications for geochemical proxy records and marine ecosystems. This is a relatively short-term, specialist Earth system modelling position (15-month duration). The post holder is therefore expected to have prior experience in intermediate complexity Earth system modelling and experience integrating key components of Earth system evolution on these timescales, or a strong track record in developing and deploying new skills in computational Earth Science research. The successful candidate will either hold, or be nearing completion of, a relevant PhD/DPhil and will have appropriate research experience alongside strong subject-specific expertise. They should be capable of working independently within established research programmes, managing their own research activities and contributing to academic publications. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to present research ideas and findings clearly, as well as representing the research group effectively in meetings and collaborative discussions.

The PHNSC provides research advice nationally for Public Health research projects seeking funding within specific areas and including development of award applications, advice on setting up studies, collaboration opportunities and support for PPIE and a Public Health Enabling Research Service (PHERcS), producing guidance, toolkits, governance and ethics and Public Health research delivery in non-NHS settings to equip organisations to host/sponsor their own research and understand the responsibilities and risks. About the Role The Research Ethics & Publication Support Manager will support our ongoing work in supporting the ethics, governance outputs of the research process. The role holder will work with the Research Ethics & Governance Support Senior Manager to manage the operation of the Public Health Research Ethics Committee (PHREC) and to manage a publication resource hosted on the University of Southampton website. This role will work within the PHERcS team to help support researchers in non-NHS settings to be research active. You will have knowledge and experience of research within the public health sector, and to be able to work collaboratively to project delivery dates. You will also be an excellent communicator and able to build relationships both internally and externally.
