Job Description FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY With offers for BSc (Hons) in Biochemical and Testing Sciences, MSc in Analytical Chemistry, MPhil (by research), and PhD degrees, the Department has around 140 undergraduate students, 70 taught postgraduate students and 100 research students and project staff. The Department places great emphasis on the quality of education and the excellence of its scholarly research/services. It has reached a significant milestone, where its educational programmes are not only innovative but also accessible, and its major areas of research strength are well recognised and supported. It is inviting applications for the following position: Research Assistant Professor (25260457) Responsibilities: Initially, the appointee will work closely with Professor David Parker FRS, Chair Professor in Chemistry (https://chem.hkbu.edu.hk/davidparker) to conduct high-quality research, and showcase original research accomplishments that have the potential to allow them to develop an internationally leading profile in chemical science. The appointee will supervise MPhil and PhD students, engaging in various scholarly activities, including gaining experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Requirements: Applicants must possess a PhD degree with post-doctoral experience in organic or inorganic chemistry or a closely related field from a reputable university/institution. They should have research experience in Chemical Science (broadly defined to embrace synthetic chemistry in supramolecular science/chemical probes/physical organic chemistry/chirality/NMR/coordination chemistry), preferably with an impressive publication record in peer-reviewed international journals. Prior experience in teaching and mentoring research students is desirable. Preference will be given to younger candidates who have worked in internationally recognised groups.  An initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. We work proactively with industry partners and professional bodies leading to more employable and innovative graduates.  About the Role As we kick-start the 2026 academic year in our brand new iconic, state of the art Healthcare Simulation Laboratories located in the convenient Adelaide CBD, we are looking for a Senior Technical Officer (Team Leader) to lead a team of passionate technical officers. In this role, will lead the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Skills and Simulation Laboratories, ensuring the smooth delivery of simulation-based learning across programs. You will also have the opportunity to coordinate team activities, allocate workloads, and work collaboratively with other Team Leaders and the Senior Manager – Healthcare Simulation across campuses to manage staffing, rostering, stock control and operational needs. The Senior Technical Officer (Team Leader) will also be responsible for planning and preparing laboratory environments for clinical simulation workshops in line with course requirements, working closely with academic staff, and laboratory teams. The role will provide expert technical support, including demonstrating simulation equipment, procedures, and techniques to ensure safe and effective learning experiences for students. The role also involves overseeing the quality and readiness of clinical laboratory setups, maintaining a strong student-centred focus which makes a significant contribution to the University’s strategic plan to changing 10 million lives, Every One Matters, by 2035 and aligns to Strategic Driver of Students First. During intensives, the incumbent will be expected to work a variety of shifts within a set roster, ranging from 7:30am – 3:30pm, 8:00am – 4pm and 12:30 – 8:30pm, with the occasional shift ending at 10:00pm. About You You contribute effectively within a team environment and step into a functional supervisory role when required. You communicate confidently and professionally, with strong interpersonal and oral communication skills that enable you to provide clear information and advice to a diverse range of staff and give practical guidance to students. Your written communication skills are equally strong, allowing you to prepare clear correspondence and respond to enquiries independently and with sound judgement. You are highly organised and capable of planning and managing complex workflows, meeting strict deadlines, and balancing competing priorities - particularly during high-demand or peak periods. You will also be able to demonstrate the following: Qualification in Nursing / Midwifery / Health Science / Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and training relevant to the position. Proven knowledge and experience in clinical health care settings encompassing all levels of patient acuity. Experience with clinical teaching and assessment set up, including knowledge of and familiarity with equipment used for clinical teaching purposes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to apply these skills to topic administration, rostering and timetabling. We are seeking creative, independent, and motivated colleagues with proven research experience relevant to this position.
