About Us The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) plays a central role in shaping the quality, innovation and impact of education at the University of East London. Working as part of the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education and Experience, CELT partners with Schools, professional services and sector organisations to enhance teaching, learning and assessment across the University. CELT brings together academic development, learning technology and educational innovation to support curriculum transformation and inclusive educational practice. The team works closely with academic colleagues to design and implement evidence informed approaches to teaching and assessment, while also supporting staff development, digital capability and the effective use of learning technologies. As the University continues to advance its Vision 2028 strategy and careers-first approach to education, CELT plays an important role in supporting the pedagogically grounded use of digital technologies, including technology enhanced active learning, digital collaboration tools and emerging technologies such as AI, AR and VR. About the Job We are seeking a talented and forward-thinking learning technology professional to join CELT as a Learning Technology Advisor. This is a central role providing professional support and guidance for learning technology across the University. Working closely with the Senior Learning Technology Advisor, you will support and facilitate learning technology activity aligned with institutional priorities in curriculum transformation, digital education and technology enhanced active learning. The role is the first point of contact with academics with operational guidance and contributing to technology projects and initiatives. You will act as an important link between CELT, Schools and IT Services, ensuring that learning technologies are implemented in ways that are pedagogically grounded, inclusive and sustainable. Key aspects of the role include: Delivering targeted training and front line assistance to academic and professional staff to support the integration of core TEL systems, staff development, guidance and resources relating to digital education and technology enhanced learning. Contributing to technology enhanced learning initiatives and projects that support curriculum innovation and digital education across the University. Providing advice on the pedagogically effective use of learning technologies including the virtual learning environment, Generative AI tools, collaboration tools and emerging technologies. Working closely with Schools, CELT colleagues and IT Services to support the implementation and development of learning technologies. Contribute to planning, evaluation and continuous improvement relating to digital education and learning technology. About You You will bring experience of designing, implementing and supporting technology enhanced learning within higher education or a comparable environment. You will have an understanding of how digital tools and platforms can support effective, inclusive and engaging approaches to teaching, learning and assessment. You will be confident working with academic colleagues, professional services teams and stakeholders, providing expert advice and helping to translate pedagogic needs into effective digital solutions. You will also have experience of working on projects or initiatives related to digital education and supporting colleagues to develop their digital teaching practice. As a member of the CELT team, you will demonstrate your knowledge and experience in using learning technology, including supporting collaborative ways of working across teams. You will ensure that learning technologies are implemented in ways that are pedagogically sound, accessible and aligned with institutional priorities. You will also demonstrate a commitment to inclusive and accessible education and to supporting innovation in teaching and learning within a diverse higher education environment. Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will support the research and implementation of a large-scale mental health and well-being project for primary schools in Hong Kong under the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences. Major tasks include: Assisting in the design and development of research studies and evaluation frameworks. Supporting the implementation of research activities and programme evaluation. Collecting and analysing data under supervision. Preparing technical research reports. Coordinating research interns. Performing administrative tasks in support of the research-cum-intervention project. Any other duties as assigned.  Requirements The appointment (Post-doctoral Fellow / Senior Research Assistant) will be offered based on the qualifications and experience of the appointee: For the Post-doctoral Fellow post, applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent qualification in Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline. For the Senior Research Assistant post, applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline plus 3 years’ research experience since the award of the first degree; or a research Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline plus 1 year’s post-qualification research experience.  The appointee should possess: A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Experience in the implementation of community or educational research projects will be an advantage.  What We Offer The appointment will commence in September 2026, on a two-year fixed-term basis for the Senior Research Assistant, and on a two-year temporary term for the Post-doctoral Fellow, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
