About the School of Computer Science and Engineering The School of Computer Science and Engineering offers currently five Bachelor and three Master programs in the fields of Computer Science, Robotics, and Electrical Engineering. Several new programs are envisaged. The School is growing rapidly. There are currently around 550 students and 20 members of Faculty. The Executive Board and Provost of Constructor University invite applications for the position of Dean (m/f/d): School of Computer Science and Engineering (Full-time; 38.5 hours/week, limited to 5 years) The expected starting date is 1 February 2027. The place of work is Bremen, Germany. A regular presence on campus is strongly preferred. Your responsibilities The successful candidate will serve as the academic and administrative head of the School of Computer Science and Engineering. Key responsibilities include: Providing strategic and academic leadership for the School through oversight of teaching, research, academic development, and portfolio management, in alignment with the university's mission and long-term goals Serving as line supervisor for faculty members across multiple academic disciplines, leading and mentoring a diverse faculty body while supporting professional development and interdisciplinary collaboration Working with the Provost to develop and manage the School's annual budget covering teaching, research, and administrative operations, ensuring effective resource allocation and continuous improvement of academic programs and research activities Contributing to cross-university leadership in developing interdisciplinary education across undergraduate, graduate, online, and appropriate further education programs Collaborating with the Provost's Office, other Deans, and the Constructor Ecosystem to strengthen academic quality and institutional strategy Strengthening the School's international profile and academic partnerships Fostering innovation in digital and online education and emerging forms of teaching and learning Representing the School within the university and externally to academic, scientific, and industry stakeholders Your Qualifications Candidates should demonstrate strong academic credentials combined with proven leadership experience. Essential qualifications include: Appointment as Full Professor or equivalent academic standing At least 10 years of experience in both teaching and research in a field relevant to the School Strong international academic reputation demonstrated through research and teaching achievements Experience in the commercialization of research and research transfer (e.g., startups, entrepreneurship, patenting) would be an advantage Proven involvement in high-level academic administration and leadership such as roles in academic governance or scientific organizations Demonstrated experience in strategic thinking and academic management Understanding of the economic and strategic context of academic and scientific activities within universities Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration and teamwork Experience working with highly diverse and international student bodies and their representative organizations or equivalent experience leading diverse teams Familiarity with international and German higher education systems Fluency in English (language of instruction at Constructor University); proficiency in German would be an advantage Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and innovation of academic units and institutions, particularly in relation to digital transformation.
