Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role The Waikato Management School invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Economics, with a specialisation in macroeconomics. Based at our Hamilton campus, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a strong research profile while contributing to high-quality teaching and postgraduate supervision in a collegial, research-active environment. You will conduct and publish high-quality, impactful research in your specialist area, actively engaging with colleagues across the Division and the wider academic community nationally and internationally. You will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate macroeconomics papers and supervise Master's and PhD students, supporting them through all stages of their research journeys. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) continuing position. Salary will be in the range of $92,603 to $148,799 per year, dependent on skills, experience, and academic standing. Appointment level (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and research track record. You will have a PhD (or be near completion) in Economics, or a closely related subject, with demonstrated expertise in macroeconomics. You will apply your teaching skills effectively, including lecturing to large classes as well as conducting small-group seminars and tutorials. You will demonstrate evidence of, or clear potential for, a strong research programme with outputs relevant to high-quality journals. You will be able to teach effectively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including large lectures and small-group teaching, and show commitment to research-informed and innovative teaching delivered both face-to-face and online. You will have the capability and enthusiasm to supervise postgraduate research students, contributing to a supportive and inclusive research culture. At Senior Lecturer level, you will also demonstrate academic leadership, an established publication record, and experience in postgraduate supervision. Ko wai mātou? - Who are we? We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join Dr Olorunniji’s team based at the LJMU School of Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences to support the delivery of a 12-month project to investigate the interaction of large serine integrases and their directionality factors in regulating phage integration and excision. You will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of the research programme, including preparing project reports and writing draft academic publications. Practical knowledge and research experience in molecular biology and/or nucleic acid biochemistry is essential, with experience of working with large serine integrases highly desirable. You should be eager to learn new skills and systems, and should have effective communication, teamworking and problem-solving skills. You will be actively involved in regular communication with the Rice lab (University of Chicago) and will collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and manuscripts and participate in selected meetings and conferences. This post would be ideally suited to a researcher with relevant experience in cell culture, organ bath pharmacology and LCMS. You should have a broad background in ex vivo urinary bladder functional pharmacology. Interest in natural products would be desirable. This project is in partnership with JUDE, who is funding the project through their partnership with Dr Yousif Shamsaldeen’s research lab at Liverpool John Moores University.
