Maynooth University seeks an outstanding academic to join our staff as Professor in the School of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures (SMLLC). The person appointed will have an excellent record in research, scholarship and publication, in teaching and educational innovation, and in academic leadership in one of the five subject areas represented in the SMLLC (Chinese Studies; French and Francophone Studies; German Studies; Spanish and Latin American Studies; and Applied Linguistics and TESOL). They will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching and research programmes of the university, as well as to the management and coordination of the SMLLC.

Candidates for Assistant Professorships should have completed their doctorate by the time of appointment and either possess a strong record of quality publications or demonstrate clear potential to develop into a productive and impactful scholar. Clear evidence of a coherent research trajectory and commitment to producing high-quality outputs will be essential.

The Faculty particularly welcomes applications in foundational common law subjects (especially private law subjects), artificial intelligence and law, intellectual property law, and PRC law. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates in other areas may also be considered.

Appointments will normally be made on contract basis of up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation.

The current starting base salary, payable over 12 months, is HK$80,825 per month (approximately US$10,350 / £7,800 per month) for Assistant Professors; HK$100,050 per month (approximately US$12,825 / £9,650 per month) for Associate Professors; and HK$126,370 per month (approximately US$16,200 / £12,190 per month) for Professors. In addition to the base salary, appointees are eligible for a monthly housing allowance and an end-of-contract gratuity, subject to prevailing terms and conditions.

Setting:

The University of Vienna seeks to fill a position of Research Technician within the Research Group Workflow Systems and Technology (WST) at the Faculty of Computer Science, working under the supervision of Prof. Han van der Aa. In this role, you support the group's research by taking care of and enabling the technical side of our work — implementing research ideas, running experiments, and helping group members carry out the technical aspects of their projects.

Prof. Van der Aa and his team focus on research in process mining, which revolves around the data-driven analysis of organizational processes. As a member of the team, you contribute directly to state-of-the-art research by turning research ideas into working software, building reliable evaluation pipelines, and establishing shared technical best practices across the group.

The position is initially fixed-term for 1 year, with the possibility of being made permanent by mutual agreement.

Your future tasks:

In this role, you will:


	implement algorithmic approaches and machine learning models developed within the group, turning research ideas into working and reliable code;
	design and run experimental evaluations for the group's research projects;
	support group members with the technical side of their research — helping to resolve programming issues, building shared pipelines and tooling, and establishing technical best practices across the group;
	contribute to the writing of research papers, mostly regarding the approaches you implement and the evaluations you conduct;
	help maintain the group's technical infrastructure, including hardware and updates to the group website (TYPO3), in collaboration with our other technician;
	share tasks within the IT infrastructure of the Faculty of Computer Science.


Required qualifications:


	Relevant vocational training (Fachmatura) or ongoing/completed university studies in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science, or an equivalent field.
	Good programming skills in Python
	An excellent command of English and German (spoken and written)
	An interest in process mining and in contributing to research (experience preferred but not required)
	The ability to work independently as well as to support and enable colleagues
	A hands-on, problem-solving mentality and the ability to get things done
	Care for clean, well-documented, and reproducible code


Desirable qualifications:


	Knowledge of process mining
	Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, scikit-learn)

The Faculty of Psychology consists of the Dean's office and the studies service center, as well as the Department of Cognition, Emotion, and Methods in Psychology, the Department of Occupational, Economic and Social Psychology, the Department of Applied Psychology: Work, Education and Economy, the Department of Development and Educational Psychology, the Outpatient Unit for Research, Teaching and Practice. Currently, nearly 3500 students of Psychology are enrolled in Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs, attending nearly 200 courses per semester, which are taught and supervised by 220 teachers.

Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant prae doc, you will join the Department of Cognition, Emotion, and Methods in Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology. The Department consists of approximately 100 staff members organized in eight research units with fMRI, EEG, fNIRS, VR, eye-tracking, physiology, and brain stimulation facilities. The interdisciplinary Methods of Psychology team currently consists of several post-doctoral and PhD students with backgrounds in psychology, life science, neuroscience, computer science, engineering, and physics. The focus of our research is to develop new neurotechnologies and AI tools to better understand psychological phenomena and to advance experimental therapies for debilitating psychiatric and neurological disorders.

Your future tasks:

As a new member of our team, you will actively contribute to research, teaching, and administrative activities. This includes:


	Participation in research projects and scientific studies focused on the application of computational methods such as machine learning and large language models to psychological domains, with a particular emphasis on anxiety disorders.
	Finalizing your dissertation agreement within 12–18 months.
	Working on and completing your doctoral dissertation.
	Attending the Vienna Doctoral School in Cognition, Behaviour and Neuroscience (VDS CoBeNe).
	Independently teaching courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
	Contributing to administrative tasks related to research, teaching, and departmental activities.


This is part of your personality:

Candidates should hold an excellent university degree in psychology. Strong computational skills are required, particularly in Python (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn), R (Tidyverse, data.table, caret), JASP, jamovi, and SQL.

Additional experience with Bash, and Git is advantageous. Fluency in both English and German is required.

For this position, we are seeking applicants with a strong interest in applying computational methods - such as machine learning (specifically LightGBM and XGBoost), language processing (LLM and NLP), and statistics - to research on anxiety disorders. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting and analyzing behavioral experiments, setting up online experiments, performing statistical analyses - including data processing and validation - and running computational simulations. Prior teaching experience in statistics, probability, research methodology, and machine learning (in Python and R) is an advantage. Experience in developing and writing grant applications is also desirable.

About the opportunity

The University of Sydney Medical School is the largest provider of vocational medical education in Australasia and is at the forefront of online learning for clinicians. The Lecturers will assist in the development of learning materials and assessment items, contribute to unit of study teaching activities (mainly online with on-campus workshops in some units). This includes facilitating and moderating online discussion forums and webinars, monitoring student progress and providing feedback and remediation where needed, as well as marking assignments and examination papers. You will contribute to ongoing quality improvement and educational research activity in relation to the Critical Care program.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	undertake teaching in the discipline of critical care medicine, and apply scholarly activity to inform teaching and learning practice in the Master of Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) program
	engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards
