About École Nationale Supérieure Agronomique, Algiers

The Higher National Agronomic School (ENSA) in Algeria is the country's main institution for training agricultural engineers. ENSA offers education, research, and expertise in various fields, including food, sustainable agriculture, biotechnology, the environment, and territories.

Students can earn an Agricultural Sciences degree, which is equivalent to a master's degree, after five years of study. Established in 1905, ENSA is Algeria's oldest higher education institution and is located in El Harrach, Algiers.

ENSA is officially recognized by the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and it awards State Engineer's degrees, master's degrees, and doctorate degrees.

Throughout its history, ENSA has undergone name changes and reforms, starting as the Agricultural Algerian School and eventually becoming the Higher National Agronomic School (E.N.S.A) in 2008.

Admission to ENSA requires a Baccalaureate degree in related fields, with admission criteria determined by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, taking into account national exam results and available spots.

ENSA has a faculty of 170 teachers and researchers, offering a comprehensive agricultural education across nine departments with various specialties. The curriculum includes three years of general courses, followed by two years of specialized studies and a research internship.

The State Engineering Degree from ENSA is equivalent to a master's degree and is recognised by an accreditation committee. Students are evaluated using a grading scale from 0 to 20, with a pass mark set at 10/20. If a student scores below 5/20, they must retake courses. Different grades indicate performance levels, with an overall average of 10.0 or above being required to pass.
