About

Basic information and contact details for École Nationale des Travaux Publics de l'État (ENTPE)

institution

The École Nationale des Travaux Publics de l'État (ENTPE) was founded in 1954 by the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Tourism in order to train civil service engineers in the Ministry of Equipment.

In 1971 the school was given accreditation to award engineering degrees and in 1987 it began to admit non civil servant students.

In the 2006-2007 academic year, the school became a member of the University of Lyon Higher Education and Research Cluster. In the same year it was accredited to award PhDs.

The school is located in Vaulx-en-Velin, the third largest suburb in the Metropolis of Lyon, France. Vaulx-en-Velin is situated in eastern France, along the river Rhône.

The Graduate Engineering Programme gives students the opportunity to specialise in one of six areas: civil engineering, building, mobility and transport, urban planning and policies, risks and pollution, and rivers, coasts and waterways. All courses are taught by the building and civil engineering department, the transport department, and the city and environment department.

The school offers a wide range of master’s degree programmes such as the high energy efficiency buildings programme, the transport, networks and territory programme, and the urban and territorial policies and strategies programme. There is also the opportunity to study a double master’s programme and obtain two degrees.

The school encourages the development of international exchanges in order to share the French perspective and learn from approaches developed abroad. Every year it welcomes vast numbers of international students on its courses, while encouraging its own students to benefit from experience abroad, whether that be an internship, a 3rd or 4th year abroad, or a double degree programme.
