About the Role

The Senior Lecturer in Midwifery, will play a key leadership role within the college, including planning and delivery of topics, topic and course coordination, development of teaching materials, delivery of lectures and tutorials and other innovative teaching and learning including assessment and/or professional activities. The incumbent will also make a significant contribution to ethical and high-quality research through activities such as scholarship, quality publication, external grant acquisition, mentoring and developing early career researchers.

This role is also responsible for:


	Undertaking a lead role in inspiring and innovative teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience, such as e learning platforms.
	Supporting students with academic and/or other challenges impeding their academic progress.
	In a leadership capacity assisting in college internal and external quality assurance and accreditation processes.
	Actively supervising and mentoring students undertaking complex WIL, Honours and/or Research Higher Degree students.
	 Leading, supervising and participating in high performing multi-disciplinary teams with an education and/or research focus and contributing to the development of a respectful, trusting and collaborative working environment.

About You

Having completed a PhD or equivalent qualification in Midwifery, you will also hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Midwife.

You will have extensive clinical experience within the discipline of Midwifery, with evidence of excellence in teaching at a tertiary level alongside a successful track record in supervision of honours and higher degree students and other post-graduate course work students research projects.

You will also be able to demonstrate:


	Evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in an area of strategic research focus for the Caring Futures Institute, including evidence of sustained high-quality publications with evident senior authorship contribution and attraction of external competitive grants.
	Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with staff, students and industry nationally and/or internationally
	A strong understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship and practice.
	Knowledge and practice in the field of First Nations health, including ability to facilitate student learning as it relates to cultural safety and responsiveness.

The Head of Composition will be a distinguished performing arts practitioner and/or composer-performer, dedicated to shaping the future of the Composition Department within the School of Music. Building on the department’s existing strengths, the Head will work collaboratively with other senior staff to drive forward innovative developments in performing arts education. This includes fostering advancements in electronic music production, music for applied media, and cross-disciplinary collaborations, ensuring the School remains at the forefront of creative and educational excellence.

Reporting to the Dean of the School of Music, the appointee is expected to oversee the Composition Department and be responsible for teaching, academic leadership and quality assurance in Composition teaching across all levels and programmes. The appointee is expected to lead curriculum design, course review and development in the Composition Department, undertake academic advising and supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate research projects, and strengthen the School’s international networks and collaborative projects.

Applicants should have:

(a) A recognised degree in Music or equivalent qualification (preferably a doctoral degree in Composition studies or relevant disciplines).

(b) A strong professional background and extensive professional experience as a composer and an educator.

(c) In-depth knowledge of current music composition trends, pedagogical approaches, and performance practices in composition, including writing for applied media, inter-disciplinary ensembles, the recording studio, etc.

(d) Internationally recognised standing and good industry network.

(e) An excellent teaching record in conservatoire/university contexts across undergraduate, postgraduate, and pre-college music programmes.

(f) A successful track record of leadership and ability within an educational institution or similar performing arts-based organisation, including evidence in curriculum design, implementation and programme development according to established quality assurance frameworks.

(g) Solid experience in managing teams and collaborative work in the cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary context.

(h) The ability to advise and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

(i)  Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

(j)   A good command of both written and spoken English. Fluency in Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese) is an advantage.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT 

Appointment will be on a two-year contract. Renewal of contract is subject to performance.  A gratuity payment equal to up to 15% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period.  The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Non-accountable Cash Allowance will be provided to the eligible appointee. The expected commencement date will be 1 September 2025.

About the opportunity

The School of Aerospace Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (AMME) is one of Australia's leading research and teaching Engineering Schools, with degree programs in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aeronautical and Space Engineering. The school has a student body of over 1,000 students and has seen strong growth in demand for teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The school supports teaching and research activities across disciplines including aerospace, combustion, design, fluid mechanics, materials, mechanical, mechatronic and robotics engineering. The Clean Combustion Group at the University of Sydney has an international reputation in the field of turbulent combustion, combustion modelling and advanced laser diagnostics. Specific research issues include the combustion of bio-fuels, turbulence-chemistry interactions in flames ranging from fully premixed to stratified and non-premixed, auto-ignition of both gaseous and liquid fuels, spray atomisation, combustion safety in deflagrations, oxy-combustion and quenching of radicals on solid surfaces. Many of the burners developed by the group are now established as international benchmarks for the development and validation of numerical tools in combustion. Our computational codes are also used by various international research institutions.

Both experimental and numerical projects are conducted in parallel providing a platform for continuous development and validation. The combustion laboratory is one of a handful of laboratories around the world with advanced laser diagnostics capabilities such as high speed PIV and high speed LIF (10kHz) as well as standard PIV, LDV, PDA, Raman, Rayleigh and LIF. Computational capabilities include Large Eddy Simulations (LES), Probability Density Function (PDF) and Multiple Mapping Conditioning (MMC) approaches; as well as more standard RANS based methods.

The clean combustion group is currently inviting applications for a postdoctoral research associate to perform experiments that will resolve the complexities of spray atomization and combustion of e-fuel blends. The position is funded by the Australian Research Council and will be based in the School of AMME. The research aims to resolve challenges which include: i) resolution of the dynamics and evolution of the primary and secondary atomization zones with a view to optimize and control spray formation processes. The e-fuel blends will include miscible and immiscible mixtures of liquid power fuels and ii) develop an improved understanding of the turbulent combustion of these sprays through measurements that employ state of the art laser diagnostics.

We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Spray Atomization and Combustion of E-Fuels to:


	work as a member of a team under the supervision of Prof. Assaad R. Masri & A/Professor Agisilaos Kourmatzis
	perform research in experimental combustion and laser diagnostics applied to spray combustion and/or turbulent flames
	develop capabilities that include multi-camera experiments for imaging laser induced fluorescence, backlit shadowgraphy, and/or particle imaging methods
	disseminate results at suitable venues (with a preference for international peer-reviewed journal articles) and prepare follow-up research projects.


About you
