Eastern Visayas State University is a regional state higher education institution in Tacloban City, Philippines. It traces its origins back to 1907, making it one of the oldest higher education institutions in the Eastern Visayas region. It was formally converted into a state university in 2004.
Located primarily in Tacloban City in Leyte, the university also operates satellite campuses in Burauen, Carigara, Dulag, Ormoc and Tanauan. 
Eastern Visayas State University has a student population spread across its campuses and offers a wide range of academic programmes in engineering, architecture, business, education, technology, arts and sciences, agriculture and fisheries related fields.
The university originated as the Leyte Provincial School in 1907 before becoming Leyte Trade School in 1915. It later developed into the Leyte Institute of Technology in 1965, reflecting its gradual expansion from vocational and technical training into broader tertiary education. Its conversion into Eastern Visayas State University in 2004 marked its transition into a full state university with expanded academic and research functions.
The university is also active in student life and extracurricular development, including athletics, academic organisations and cultural activities. Its sports teams, known as the EVSU Eagles, participate in regional and national competitions, contributing to its wider institutional identity and student engagement.

The Centre of Cancer Medicine is a platform to facilitate the academic development of cancer medicine and oncology, and is created to foster collaboration among the cognate disciplines/ (sub)specialities within the Centre of Cancer Medicine/ School of Clinical Medicine, and with other Schools/ Departments/ Institutes/ Hospitals/ Colleges.

Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, with a specialist qualification in Clinical Oncology/Medical Oncology recognized by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or its equivalent. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical service, research and teaching, and will be expected to help further strengthen the Centre’s teaching in Cancer Medicine across the broad spectrum of medical and health sciences education. Applicants should have a proven record of independent research and are expected to actively engage in collaborative projects within the University and beyond, working across related disciplines and subspecialties in alignment with the Centre’s core theme of promoting cross-disciplinary synergy in cancer research and education.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits schemes, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidates. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.

The Multifunctional Nanocomposite group in the Department of Applied Physics is now looking for a highly motivated

Postdoctoral researcher in 2D material nanocomposites for tunable photonics

Are you interested in developing new materials for photonics devices? The high-performance optically active materials (OAMs) are desirable for many applications. However, the current OAMs still have some critical issues to be resolved for practical applications. This project aims to develop a new OAM platform using well-designed 2D material nanocomposites based on MXenes combined with functional organic molecules, and to demonstrate prototype devices for large modulating amplitudes or fast switching speeds. If you are a talented researcher interested in 2D material photonics and electronics and enjoy highly interdisciplinary research environment, this might be something for you!

Your role and goals


	Planning and executing laboratory experiments on 2D material nanocomposite synthesis
	Thin film electrochemical and FET device fabrication and characterization
	Writing publications for peer-reviewed high level scientific journals
	Presenting research findings at international conferences and seminars
	Research visits with European partner universities and research facilities
	Showing good social skills in collaborations to promote collaborations


What we require

The candidate should have or will shortly receive a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or Physics. Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas are considered as merits:


	Research background in thin-film device fabrication (i.e. electrochromic devices, LIBs and supercapacitors, FETs) with 2D materials (preferably MXene or graphene)
	Hands-on experience in wet chemistry synthesis and chemical safety
	Hands on experience in additive manufacturing (printing, deposition)
	Working experience in clean room is highly valued
	Both hands-on and data analysis skills in classical materials characterization methods (i.e., TEM, SEM, XRD, XPS, NMR, IR, Raman, XAS, SAXS, etc)
	Good oral and written proficiency of English. Finnish language is not required
	High motivation and team player in interdisciplinary settings
	Knowledge in inorganic, metal-organic, or organic chemistry is a plus


The experience should be demonstrated by evidence of success in related studies, and also by publication record. Other merits demonstrating suitability for a postdoctoral researcher position can also be considered.

About the opportunity

The University of Sydney's School of Physics is soliciting applications for a Researcher in Astrophotonics and Astronomical Instrumentation at Astralis-USyd.

This exciting role at Astralis-USyd (one of 3 nodes of Australia's Astronomical Instrumentation Consortium, Astralis) is part of a major astrophotonics initiative launched from the University of Sydney as the lead institution in an international collaboration involving several observatory and university partners worldwide. We aim to produce next generation astronomical instruments founded on photonics technologies. Our group is an established world leader in astrophotonics, having pioneered instruments for photonic interferometry, nulling, wavefront sensing and spectroscopy at the world's leading telescopes. The successful candidate will join our vibrant interdisciplinary team tackling some of the biggest challenges in observational astronomy by way of innovative technological solutions.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	develop and build innovative astrophotonic instruments, and their core technologies, for groundbreaking astronomical science in high-contrast and high-angular-resolution imaging
	implement and test novel instrument concepts based on astrophotonic technologies (including the photonic lantern and photonic integrated optics), by way of computer simulations, laboratory prototyping and on-sky testing
	perform detailed laboratory characterisation of astrophotonic components, including designing robust experimental procedures and analysis of data
	contribute to novel data analysis and/or instrument control code, leveraging advances in machine learning and real-time control
	fabricate robust instrumentation or photonic components for use at 8m-class and future ELT-class observatories
	perform lead roles instrument development projects, including coordinating with scientists, engineers, observatories and other stakeholders to ensure optimum outcomes
	deliver outcomes in a timely way to meet milestones in the funded instrumentation projects.


About you
