Eastern Samar State University is a public higher education institution in the Philippines, located in the province of Eastern Samar. It has a history that dates back to 1960, when it was originally established as the Eastern Samar National Regional Agricultural School to provide agricultural training and secondary education. The school became a state college in 1993 and in 2004 it was granted full university status.
The university’s main campus is situated in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, with additional campuses and extension sites across the province, including in Guiuan, Salcedo, Maydolong, and Can-avid.
The university offers a wide range of both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes across subject areas such as agriculture, education, engineering, business, information technology, arts and sciences, and environmental studies. Many of its programmes reflect the needs of the region, incorporating practical training and applied learning in fields such as fisheries, forestry, and rural development. The university also provides graduate-level studies, including master’s and doctoral programmes, alongside research and extension services.
