EADA Business School (Escuela de Alta Dirección y Administración) is an international business school located in Barcelona. Founded in 1957, EADA was set up in 1985 as a private university foundation engaging in training, applied research and transfer of knowledge to the business world and society in an international context. It was one of the first Spanish institutions to run management training programmes for the business community. Operating over three core departments (financial management and control, marketing operations and supply, strategy, leadership and people), EADA currently offers: an executive MBA, online MBA, international MBA; masters in management, finance, marketing, tourism and hospitality management and sustainable business and education, with bilingual options for many of these. It also offers postgraduate courses and executive education courses in Spanish only. EADA has six applied research centres at different stages of development in terms of research activity, transversal reach and external impact: Global Innovation Management Centre (GIMCE); Transformational Growth Centre; Retail Leadership Centre; Corporate Sustainability Centre and the Coaching Centre. The FT put EADA as the 28th best European business school in 2017 and is one of only a few business schools in Spain to have a Financial Times ranking and to also be a member of CFA Institute partner program.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The Research Fellow / Engineer (Building-Grid Interaction Design) will contribute to a two-year applied research project funded by the BCA, focusing on the development of a power grid interactive building or cluster of buildings. The role involves designing and implementing monitoring, visualization and control system to coordinate multiple energy sources including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, and diesel generators, and dynamically interacting with building management system to shed signficant loads under varying operating conditions. The research staff will develop, simulate, and test controller logic using MATLAB/Simulink or similar environments, analyse performance across diverse scenarios, and document results for technical reporting. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in modern facilities management, mechanical and electrical engineering and energy efficiency management.  Key Responsibilities Participate in the research project to design a microgrid controller for grid interactive building applications. Develop control algorithms for dynamic master selection, coordinating BESS, PV, diesel generators, and other sources. Implement predictive, rule-based, or optimisation-based control strategies using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or embedded software tools. Integrate controller logic with the microgrid model and validate performance under different simulated conditions. Conduct testing of control strategies under various operating conditions such as extreme weather, load variation, equipment failure and deployment constraints. Prepare documentation, flowcharts, control logic diagrams, and controller specifications for the final report. Assist with procurement of software licences and technical equipment. Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with WSH regulations. Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project. Work independently and collaboratively to maintain research software and project tools. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by supervisor. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field from a recognised university. Strong programming skills in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or similar environments. Understanding of control systems, power electronics, or energy management strategies. Experience in microgrid controller design is advantageous. Familiarity with BESS control strategies, SOC management, or optimisation algorithms preferred. Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project. Ability to implement and test algorithmic logic using simulation tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

The Atomic Scale Physics group at the Department of Applied Physics is looking for a MSc degree student at Aalto or some other university to work with us in the field of 2D materials based quantum devices. The student/assistant will conduct advanced research on low-dimensional quantum materials using cutting-edge methodologies, including cleanroom nanofabrication and possibly participate in transport measurements at cryogenic temperatures. This work will be conducted within a leading research group recognized for its expertise in quantum materials and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy. Your role and goals The goal of the student is to study emergent electronic phenomena in two-dimensional materials. Typical examples of these materials include van der Waals monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenide superconductors, Mott insulators, ferromagnets, multiferroics, graphene, etc. Your tasks will include: Exfoliation of van der Waals materials followed by stacking on a transfer station/glovebox. Characterization of 2D materials using Raman spectroscopy, AFM and/or cryogenic STM. Data Analysis of low temperature measurements. Collaboration with group members and theoretical/computational partners Your experience and ambitions Bachelor’s degree in the field of condensed matter physics or a closely related field. Existing skills and knowledge in nanofabrication and clean room processing of 2D materials (required). Ability to work both independently and as a part of an international and multidisciplinary research group. Interest in experimental condensed matter physics. Excellent command of English. The Finnish language is not required. What we offer We offer a fully funded master´s thesis/research assistant position in the Atomic Scale Physics group led by Prof. Peter Liljeroth. The group consists currently of 2 Academy Research Fellows, 1 Postdoctoral Researchers and 5 Doctoral Researchers. The group focuses studying physical phenomena in atomically precise materials characterized using scanning tunneling microscopy and non-contact atomic force microscopy in a wide array of systems such as heterostructures of two-dimensional van der Waals materials, atomically well-defined graphene nanoribbons, and artificial lattices on surfaces. The employment contract is for at least six months (with a possibility of continuation as a PhD). The duration of the employment and the working-time percentage depend, among other things, on the student’s study situation and on whether they will be doing their Master's thesis during the employment contract. Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. The salary for a research assistant is approximately 2294-2514 € per month (gross) depending on the stage of your studies. Ocean and Earth Science at the National Oceanography, Southampton (NOCS) / University of Southampton is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Physical Oceanography to undertake research into the ocean turbulence dynamics shaping the distribution of Antarctic sea ice, and the feedbacks of ice processes on ocean stratification and circulation. The role will focus on the analysis of a range of oceanographic measurements collected in the Weddell, Amundsen and Ross seas using a range of cutting-edge instrumentation, including microstructure equipped profiling floats, autonomous underwater vehicles and specialised moorings. This analysis will be complemented by large eddy simulations of under-ice ocean turbulence, to aid in advancing observation-based process understanding. The successful applicant will work as part of an international team examining the role of a breadth of ocean turbulence phenomena in controlling Antarctic sea ice extent, and the ways in which sea ice processes shape ocean stratification and circulation. The team includes an active sea-going oceanographic group, experts in remote sensing, numerical sea ice-ocean modellers and climate dynamicists, and is strongly motivated by the ongoing rapid changes in the Antarctic sea ice cap and in the sea ice-influenced Southern Hemisphere oceans. The NOCS team will work closely with scientists at project partner institutions in the UK (e.g., British Antarctic Survey) and internationally (e.g., Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Alfred Wegener Institute, Korea Polar Research Institute). Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in physical oceanography (or a related field) with experience in the interpretation of oceanographic observations. A good knowledge of ocean dynamics would be beneficial. Strong quantitative and communication skills, and the ability to conduct innovative research leading to high-impact publications in international refereed journals are essential. The post is initially for 2 years, with the possibility of a 1-year extension.
