Educational and Research Institute, Thai Moogambigai Dental College and Hospital, A.C.S. Medical College and Hospital, Raja Rajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Bengaluru and Faculty of Medicine at Sri Lalithambiagai Medical College and Hospital. Outside of academia students can join a range of clubs and societies including the National Cadet Corps and the literary seminary workshops. This continuing academic position will play a key role in RSES’s strategic growth in critical minerals and critical resources. The appointee will develop and lead a high-impact research program focused on how and where critical mineral systems form, how they are preserved, and how they can be understood and developed responsibly. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work connects geophysical observations, modelling or interpretation with geochemical, petrological, experimental, analytical or field-based constraints on mineral system formation. The position will build interdisciplinary strength across RSES by linking established capabilities in geophysics, geochemistry, experimental petrology, modelling, computation and field-based Earth science. The appointee will be expected to publish original research in leading international journals, attract competitive external funding, supervise HDR and Masters students, mentor early-career researchers, and build productive collaborations with industry, government and national and international research partners. The role will also provide leadership in the development and delivery of linked Honours and Masters streams in critical resources. The appointee will help ensure that new teaching programs are underpinned by strong foundational training in Earth science, geological field skills, and interdisciplinary approaches to critical minerals. The Person The successful candidate will hold a PhD in geophysics, earth sciences or a closely related discipline, with a strong track record of independent research relevant to critical minerals. They will have demonstrated expertise at the interface between geophysics and geochemistry and/or experimental petrology, and a clear vision for building an internationally recognised research program at ANU. The successful candidate will have a record of high-quality publications, competitive external funding, successful student supervision, and academic leadership appropriate to appointment at Level C. They will be able to articulate and prosecute innovative interdisciplinary research that connects deep Earth processes, mineral system formation, and observational, analytical or computational constraints relevant to critical resources. The appointee will be a collegial and collaborative academic leader, able to work across disciplinary boundaries and contribute positively to the School’s research, education and service culture. They will bring a commitment to excellence in teaching and supervision, including field-based education, curriculum development, and the mentoring of students and early-career researchers.
