The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is pleased to announce the opening for up to two full-time academic positions (Teaching and Research stream) in Veterinary Anesthesiology. For candidates with an interest in research, UCVM has enviable access and existing collaborations with the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Depending on qualifications and career track expectations, the appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The successful candidate will be appointed in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2026, or a mutually agreed upon date. The positions require a DVM (or equivalent). Board certification (DACVAA and/or Dipl. ECVAA) is preferred, but board-eligible ACVAA or ECVAA residency-trained candidates, or a candidate holding a PhD in veterinary anesthesiology, will be considered. An additional graduate degree is considered an asset. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor normally requires evidence or promise of original high-quality research and scholarship and future development as a scholar. Evidence or promise of the ability to obtain funding may also be required where appropriate. Evidence or promise of teaching proficiency or professional activity may also be required.
