It is a diverse city, home to numerous ethnic groups, giving students an experience of multi-culturalism on top of their studies.

Offering a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses, the university educates students who wish to pursue a career in health sciences. As part of the academic curriculum, the university seeks to integrate research and community work.

An important part of the university’s mission is giving back to the local community. It is particularly committed to helping the less privileged by providing preventive and diagnostic treatment as well as rehabilitation facilities. It seeks to improve the health status of the community by increasing public awareness of how to stay healthy.

There are state-of-the-art facilities available for students to use at the university including museums, information technology equipment, and specialist laboratories. Students are also able to gain hands-on medical training from the university’s professional development centre, which has access to mannequins, and intensive care unit and operating theatre simulators.
