About Diponegoro University
Diponegoro University is a public university in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia.
It was founded in 1957 as a private university by the Semarang University Foundation.
The university has 11 faculties including economics and business; social and political science; humanities; law; medicine; engineering; fisheries and marine science; natural sciences and mathematics; public health; animal agriculture and psychology. There is also one postgraduate school which offers eight doctorate programmes and 28 master's programmes. There is also a vocational school which provides a wide variety of courses for students.
As well as the main campus in Semarang, there are four other campuses outside the city. Tembalang campus is the newest and largest and is the location of the administrative centre, the Central Library, the engineering faculty and school of science. The Pleburan campus is the oldest campus and houses the school of social sciences and the teaching and doctoral programme. The Gunung Brintik campus has the school of medicine and the Teluk Awur campus is the home of the faculty of fisheries and marine science.
There is a mosque on the Tembalang campus which is surrounded by gardens and is known as one of the most unusual mosques in Semarang.
Other facilities for students include the ICT Centre, the dormitory student building and the sports stadium.
While most classes for international students are taught in English, students are expected to have a good grasp of Indonesian language and culture and all students are expected to have a minimum level of English proficiency to study at the university.
